||Lancer Explorer Inflatable Rafts have been designed especially for White Water River Running. Their design results from the recommendations and requirements of the various River Running Organisations within New Zealand and overseas. In discussions with numerous Boatmen we have advised that the Lancer designed craft have proved superior in their design fittings and durability to any of the other makes of River Runner.
The fabric used in the rafts is a special durable Hypalon coated fabric, made exclusively for Lancer and has the highest Hypalon content of any commercially available fabric. This Hypalon proofing has been formulated over many years to give a compound which has the highest resistance to bright sunlight, ultra violet, and the high ozone content to be found in the Pacific. This material will give a higher life expectancy than any other material currently available for inflatable craft. Base nylon fabric ranges in weight from 840 to 1680 denier nylon depending upon the application and for commercial purposes the crafts are normally constructed of the heavier material.
To protect the craft against abrasion heavy chafing strips are fastened around the entire perimeter of the boat to give exceptional strength and protection for this arduous application. Again this material is specially made for Lancer. This chaffing strip can be taken up to the rubbing strake on the craft to provide total protection.
The seams are constructed from the same heavy materials as the craft itself and are taped inside and out for maximum air retention and strength. The "baffles" used to subdivide the compartments are also made from the same fabric as the craft itself.
Special features include the inflatable thwart as an integral part of the boat structure to eliminate the weakness inherent
in separate thwart arrangements, and also the abrasion resulting from a lace-in arrangement.
The standards set for Lancer craft are considerably in excess of those required by various worldwide standards. Lancer was the first marine manufacturer in New Zealand to be certified to the ISO9002 Quality Assurance Standard was awarded New Zealand's largest marine export order, by winning a contract with the US Coast Guard in 1992. Lancer also won the "Trade NZ/Air New Zealand" Award for Small Exporter of the Year in 1994.
Lancer has a continuous monitoring programme to ensure that the craft have no defects incorporated during their construction. As an example, the craft are inflated to four times working pressure during test and the air loss permitted is very much lower than that permissible by the various published standards. The removable plastic valves and the heavy duty capacity bellows provided enable the passage of substantial volume of air so that the craft can be inflated or deflated rapidly
Lancer Explorers are constructed from a high visibility yellow material so that they can readily be seen and so that they reflect heat better then any of the darker materials used. An extensive range of external fittings and accessories are offered and these have been found to suit the needs of the majority of river running companies. However, to suit particular requirements changes can be made both to the design of the craft and the fittings made.
Enjoy the thrills of owning a craft rated, within and outside New Zealand, as one of the best designed and built boats of its type.
