|48 foot Huon Pine Commercial vessel in current 1C survey, which was built in Port Albert Victoria in 1968.
"Sea Rouge" was originally commissioned by the Victorian Government as a small cargo vessel to supply Bass Straight lighthouses with up to 7.5 tonnes of cargo capacity. The current owner's father purchased her in 1985 and used her as a workboat to maintain shark netting and later as a charter fishing vessel. She is still in current NSW 1C Survey for 20 passengers and 2 crew to 30nm.
"Sea Rogue" would also make a great "Trawler Conversion" for a liveaboard couple or floating holiday home or utilise he for a multitude of commercial applications.
She has a full keel with 4 water tight compartments to survey. Constructed with Huon pine, carvel planked over Jarrah ribs and stringers. Jarrah under deck beams with Celery top pine deck planking, recently covered with 10mm marine ply and 4mm of GRP for durability. The hull was completely refastened with some 1500 new screws and copper nails and re-caulked. New planks where needed and most butt blocks replaced. At the same time she had all paint stripped from the Sponsons to the keel and repainted. She was also fitted with a new Aluminium Flybridge. This work was carried out by Dennis Hodges at Ulludulla two years ago.
She is powered by a 2008 Gardiner 6LX six cylinder marine diesel engine, directly coupled to a Twin Disk 509 marine gearbox. Her engine was rebuilt in 2013 and currently has 1296 hours. She is also equipped with a 1000x1100mm hydraulic drum, which was used for shark netting, and the winch has a 200mm capstan with a 2 tonne pull.
Sea Rogue was built to strict Victorian Government specifications and is purpose built for Bass Straight and so has extremely good sea-keeping characteristics in even the most extreme weather and sea conditions. She has had an extensive list of equipment upgrades and improvements and is sea ready to continue her commercial life or to be spoiled by a new owner, who is looking for a "real boat" to convert into a retirement or holiday vessel.
