|Newly established yachting business on beautiful Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays - " Grand Prix Yachting " - The business includes two Volvo Ocean 60 racing yachts in very good condtion, a three year concession to operate a business on Hamilton Island, a 365 day GBRMPA permit, a 5.8m RIB with 150hp Outboard and Certificate of Operation, an extra tender and two shipping containers - one as a workshop and one as a sail locker.
The vessels are " Merit " and " Spirit ", both Volvo 60 ocean racing yachts, were built for the 1997-98 Volvo Ocean Race. " Merit " took second place; Spirit raced with an all-female crew as EF Education. Illbruck acquired EF Education following the event. Both Merit and Spirit have a rich racing pedigree with several Rolex Sydney Hobart and other major offshore racing achievements. In 1999, Spirit (then Nokia), set a race record of 1 day 19 hours and 48 minutes at an average speed of 14.39 knots. That record stood for 13 years until Wild Oats XI set the new record or 1 day, 18 hours and 23 minutes in 2012.
