The Krogen Manatee was created to be a breed of coastal cruiser that cut through pretense and concentrated on practicality and comfort.

Designed and constructed under the late James S. Krogen's direction, the Krogen Manatee was created especially for seafarers who preferred an able, friendly craft to a frivolous speedster. The Manatee was and is a boat that can stretch horizons and discover new ports. With 23,000 lb. (10454 kgs) displacement and a 3'2" (0.956m) draft, she can explore rivers, bays and sounds. With a range of 1100 miles, she can embark for the Bahamas, circle the Great Lakes, crisscross the Chesapeake or meander Puget Sound and the San Francisco Delta area. Under way or anchor down, the Krogen Manatee is a cruiser that has logged many happy days and many happy miles.

Highlights of the Krogen 36 Manatee.
Even today proud owners of the Manatee enjoy the spacious liveability usually found only in a much larger craft. Thoughtful, innovative design provides convenience with comfort, complete with picture-window views when seated in the saloon.

Manatees offer plenty of natural ventilation to enjoy the sea breezes. Krogen Manatees are generous with storage, closet, cabinet and sleeping space. Interiors spaces feature the warmth of timeless teak, creating a fine home that takes to the sea. 99 examples of the Krogen Manatee were built between 1984-1991.

Raz-Ma-Taz has been completely restored mechanically and cosmetically over several years and is ready for her new owner to sail away with her. She has been kept the past few years in fresh water. Her single stateroom design makes her one of the most comfortable live aboard boats of her size and her minimum draft means she can go just about anywhere her owners wish to go be it the islands or inland cruising.

Construction
The Manatee hull and cabin are of fibreglass sandwich construction with closed-cell PVC foam core; heavy hand lay-up using mat and roving. The state of the art construction is one of the most enduring and safest afloat. (Closed-cell PVC foam does not deteriorate or absorb water. ) The composite structure serves both as a buoyancy material and shock, sound and temperature insulator. It rides quiet, increases impact strength and eliminates condensation inside the hull. All joiner work, paneling and beam caps are of teak. Cabinetry is teak.

Decks
Decks were built with fiberglass sandwich construction with end-grain balsa core.

Saloon
The Saloon is entered from the extra large covered aft deck through teak double doors with custom heron privacy artwork and zippered screen. To port is a built in U-shaped dinette with custom Sunbrella upholstery with a high-low table that converts to a Queen berth. To starboard are two comfortable Ekornes Stressless leather recliners w/ ottomans, a side table and book shelves. Additional storage is available in a bamboo and rattan cabinet. A Samsung 30" flat screen TV with Sea Watch Antenna and Samsung Blu Ray player are mounted to port. There is also a CD player/radio/weather radio with Alpine speakers in the saloon as well. Opening windows with screens on port and starboard sides and an aft window with teak valances and custom day/night blinds blinds (new in 2015) provide ventilation and make the cabin bright & airy.

Galley
The U-shaped galley is located forward of the saloon. A pass through with teak doors allows the galley a view out the back doors and with the window to port it is bright and airy enough to please any chef. It is very large and has an exceptional amount of cupboard, drawer and locker storage. Major components include:
Double stainless steel sink
Household faucet with pull out sprayer
Salt water foot pump
Seaward/Princess 3 burner propane stove with Seaward remote propane tank on/off
Vitrifrigo Stainless Steel Refrigerator/freezer (new 2014)

Master Stateroom
One of the outstanding features of the Krogen Manatee is the large master stateroom, located forward, with a queen size berth that is a brand new Orthopedic mattress, large "walk-in" size hanging locker, mirrored vanity and generous drawer storage and a large storage space under the bed. There are 4 opening ports and a large opening hatch to allow for abundant ventilation when on the hook. There is a 20" Toshiba wall mounted flat screen TV with built in DVD player at the foot of the bed as well as book shelves and a locker.

Head
The head is located to starboard, opposite the galley. It includes a large separate stall shower, stainless steel basin, and Royal Flush Superbowl head. A large opening window combined with Dutch door allow for ventilation and light. The Dutch door also allows cross ventilation and light when the head is not in use.

Pilothouse
The pilothouse on the Manatee is accessed by a large teak & stainless ladder on the aft deck. It offers 360-degree visibility and is completely enclosed via windows forward and roll-up/removable curtains port, starboard and aft. There are side deck doors port and starboard. There is a comfortable helm chair as well as cushioned U-shaped seating behind the helm chair that converts to a berth. There are fans to provide additional ventilation. A CD/radio/ weather radio and Eclipse speakers provide entertainment, There is a mast to the aft of the pilothouse with upgraded stainless steel up lift cables and a Badland 3000lb winch (with separate battery bank and charger) and a Barient self tailing winch to assist in launching and retrieving the dinghy from its custom chocks.
