|This full-displacement vessel has been to Alaska five times and around Vancouver Island twice. Kadey-Krogens have recently been in the news crossing both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. She is a wonderful vessel that will take you anywhere you want to go.
Alcyone boasts a newer Perkins diesel with only 255 hours.
Her beam and thoughtful design offer exceptional storage space everywhere. Beautiful teak decks enhance the exterior look, and a full enclosure is included for the cockpit (we call it the back porch!), making this area an excellent 4-season extra living space. Even a custom full-boat cover has been made for winter storage.
The Kadey-Krogen 42 has an impressive 3,000 mile range and has crossed many oceans. She will give you a gentle ride. Her design has proven itself to be very seaworthy.
THE KROGEN 42'
There's no mistaking the rugged heritage of the Krogen 42' trawler yacht. Her forebears were hardworking shrimp boats built to respect the sea and ride out any weather. While her profile is far more refined and her quarters the height of comfort, the Krogen 42' is as salty and seagoing safe as those commercial fishing sister ships of yore.
The late naval architect and designer, James S. Krogen, was a master of merging the tried and true with fresh, innovative concepts, creature comforts and convenience. His near-three decades of commercial design gave extra dimension and distinction to his offshore pleasure craft. Outstanding performance is inherent.
The Krogen 42' trawler yacht was designed and constructed for yachtsmen and women who prefer timeless to trendy and solid comfort to making waves. The wineglass transom of her full-keeled displacement hull rises out of the water for minimum drag, maximum efficiency. At 8 knots, her range is close to 2,000 nautical miles.
You can cruise from ocean to ocean or simply while away a weekend in a nearby cove. The whole world of water is securely yours in this stalwart lady.
Salty and seaworthy: the Krogen 42' trawler yacht
Seagoing Comfort, Family-Size
While as salty as they come, the Krogen 42' trawler yacht was thoughtfully planned for privacy, with easy and congenial tri-level living. Practical aspects are integrated with ingenious features to ensure that pleasure trips are truly pleasurable.
The saloon is bright and airy with sliding picture windows for sightseeing and sea gazing even while comfortably seated. The galley is open to the saloon and full of convenience. Quarters below decks include a private master head with shower, and guest head also with shower. In every detail from bow to stern, The Krogen 42' trawler yacht reflects quality and caring.
The hull and cabin sides of the Krogen 42' were built of fiberglass sandwich construction with closed-cell PVC foam core; heavy hand lay-up using mat and roving. This construction remains one of the most enduring and safest afloat. (Closed-cell PVC foam core does not deteriorate or absorb water. ) The composite structure serves both as a buoyancy material and shock, sound and temperature insulator. It rides quiet, increases impact strength and eliminates condensation build-up inside the hull.
Decks were built of a fiberglass sandwich construction with end-grain balsa core. The main deck offered a teak overlay and the boat deck was molded with a non-skid surface. (A teak overlay was available at the purchaser's option. )
All joinery work, paneling, cabinetry, and beam caps were of fine teak. Countertops were topped with Formica. All lockers and closets were lined with teak veneer and Formica.
