|The sexy 4600 Mirage Sports Cruiser looks for all the world like a six-figure European or British import. Its navy-blue hull is adorned with gleaming stainless steel or chromed bronze deck fittings, topped with opulent teak decks and finished off with a rakish radar arch.
A push-button submersible boarding platform, a hydraulically-activated lift-up cockpit floor, a bowthruster and a barbie are all built in.
Down below is a vision splendid, comprising high-gloss American cherrywood timber, leather upholstery and flatscreen televisions in the cabins.
We're talking a lot of bang for your bucks including things such as Raymarine electronics, an icemaker, three air-conditioning units, a surround sound system and more.
And before I go any further let me just say this: the amenities centre on the 4600 Mirage SC is the best you will find on a production-built sportscruiser. It is hardly surprising that an Aussie boatbuilder would know a thing or two about entertaining facilities on boats.
Naval architect Peter Lowe designed the sweet hull. Without so much as a tweak on the trim tabs, the 4600 Mirage jumps to planing speed and runs on an even keel. It doesn't have a bum-down attitude, but nor does it run bow-down.
The amenities centre is a bloody ripper. The fully moulded module has a fridge, icemaker, electric griddle, carbon fibre drink holder, champagne or chardonnay bottle holder, big icebox, stainless steel sink with hot/cold water and storage.
With all that stuff at hand, the Mustang 4600 Mirage delivers the high life on the high seas. The social seating layout comprises a circular transom lounge set around a dinette with stainless stanchion, where five people can sit within serving range of the chef at the amenities centre, who is thoughtfully provided with a grab rail and drink holder.
Forward, opposite the double-width helm bench seat, is a smaller curved lounge that can seat three people. All up, eight can enjoy a barbie in the outdoors or under the bimini trailing off the targa arch. Now that's what I call living. A long hot summer will never be the same again!
