Tartan is expanding on its award winning design and construction innovations in a new class of yacht. The 5300 promises to provide great performance and ease of handling on an incredibly stable platform. Her raised salon, center cockpit deck design offers excellent on deck visibility and security and provides the structure for her extensive interior arrangement plans. Tartan 5300 is fit with a carbon fiber, Novis, Cruise Control Rig (CCR), featuring a small overlapping working upwind headsail, off wind furling reacher and a carbon fiber pocket boom for the main. This design provides the optimum in performance and ease of handling. Utilizing Tartan's industry leading lamination techniques, finely tuned in a partnership with High Modulus Engineering, the 5300 hull and deck composites are the strongest, lightest and safest in the industry. Weight conserved using advanced composites is used to increase all of the performance indicating ratios and allow a higher ballast to displacement ratio providing greater sail carrying ability and stability. The interior of the 5300 is available in a range of layouts, all carefully fit out by Tartan craftsman in varnished cherry joinerwork and luxurious fabrics. Longer passages made easier by Tartan's cruising innovations, the newest flagship of the line is poised to set the new standard for the class.
Hallmarks of Tartan deck design center on wide side-decks for easy and safe movement, deep, comfortable and secure cockpits, extensive ventilation in ports & hatches, and traditional styling. The 5300 embraces all of these elements in a design aimed at offering the expansive views of a raised salon yacht as well as the benefits of a center cockpit. The center cockpit offers excellent visibility and affords the ability to house a full width aft master cabin. Coming on the heels of the 4400, the main living area of the boat is housed in the raised salon, offering easier access to the interior as well as a light and airy feel thanks to the large tempered glass portlights. On deck storage, sometimes a draw back to center cockpit designs, is given a priority on the 5300. She boasts 3 large deck lockers, one forward and 2 others in the aft port and starboard quarters, these lockers provide ample room for a wide range of cruising gear. 12 opening house side portlights, 2 cockpit opening portlights, 4 dorades and 10 deck hatches provide ventilation, always a central theme for Tartan. Fit with the best hardware and equipment available the 5300 deck is a model of comfort, safety and efficiency.
The Tartan 5300 is designed as a cruising boat for sailors that appreciate performance. 46.5 feet of waterline and a displacement to length ratio of 165 promise a hull form that will deliver impressive daily passages and rewarding sailing characteristics. A narrow waterline entry angle and clean undistorted lines leading to broad aft quarters produces a hull with good upwind performance and powerful, sheets eased sailing. Through careful shaping, the hull has an even volume distribution throughout its length, this shape remains in symmetry when the boat heels and maintains good directional stability. Coupled with a high ballast to displacement ratio and low CG keel designs the 5300 will be an uncommonly stable and very well mannered sailing yacht.
Great performance, with easy handling begins with the correct rig choice. Tartan has developed its CCR rig to provide the best combination for efficient upwind sailing and easy to manage use of larger offwind sails. Upwind she is powered by a high performance 105% roller furling jib, the smaller size means easier tacking and better visibility, this sail can also be furled to a 90% jib without significant loss of sail shape. The carbon fiber pocket boom allows a full roach, fully battened main that can be built without the performance restrictions induced by roller furling mains. The pocket boom also provides a wide base for lazy jacks and makes setting and dousing the main an easy task. Offwind performance is maximized using a masthead, roller furling reacher that is easily handled by a couple. For greater strength and performance, the 5300 is fit with a two spreader carbon mast that saves 50% of the tube weight of an aluminum mast. Additionally, rod rigging further reduces weight aloft and provides less stretch and windage. These weight savings further improve the sail carrying ability, seakeeping motion and stability of the 5300.
Knowing that our owners have different requirements, the 5300 is available in a range of standard interior layouts. 3 cabins, 4 cabins and an available raised interior nav/remote helm station are some of the highlights of the available option. Each arrangement plan features two large head compartments, both fit with full shower stalls, an opulent main cabin positioned in the raised salon area, full navigation station and a galley that will please the most ardent seagoing chef. Extensive use of laminated curved trims and solid stock panel doors and cabinetry, all varnished to a satin luster and highlighted with gloss accents, will surround you in soft hues and elegance. Making full use of the centercockpit/raised salon deck plan, the 5300's interior layout is extensive, expansive and inviting.
By using the best build practices and joining them in a contemporary hull form and rig, the 5300 will represent a new class of performance cruising in her size range.

NPG Isothalic gelcoat, hull is finished in owner's choice of Awlgrip color
Epoxy infused hull laminate producing a strength to weight ratio not attainable in any production polyester laminates
Epoxy allows all uni-directional fabric structural laminate, no chopped strand mat
Epoxy's superior adhesive properties reduce overall hull weight while increasing strength, producing a faster and safer performance cruising yacht
Strict resin control through use of resin infusion produces glass to resin ratio of 65% glass ?ber, 35% resin. (Production polyester boats are typically 25% glass ?ber, 75% resin=heavy and brittle)
Superior fatigue and cyclic loading characteristics of epoxy ensure a hull that retains its shape and strength longer resulting in higher resale value
Extensive internal structure designed to carry rig and keel loads, glass taped into hull using modi?ed epoxy resin
Synthetic foam hull coring, provides lightweight structure, stiffness, sound and thermal insulation and superior impact resistance
Hull is vacuum-bagged and structure is laminated in one shot thus does not rely on secondary bonding of structural materials
Epoxy hull laminate is far stronger than any polyester laminate of similar weight, i. E. Greater safety margins while delivering superior performance over normal production polyester hulls
90 degree throw, Marelon, ?ush thru hull ?ttings. Marelon ?ttings are UL and ABS approved and are corrosion free
Complete interior paintout for enhanced cosmetics and to seal interior laminate surfaces
Built to meet ABS Plan Certi?cation
Industry leading, non-prorated 15 year hull structural and blister guarantee
Warranty is conditionally transferable
NPG Isothalic gelcoat for improved color and gloss retention
Gelcoat is formulated for greater ?exibility reducing occurrence of common gel coat crazing
Two-color deck standard, choice of combinations
Infused deck laminate, utilizing epoxy resin yielding high resin/glass ratio and void free laminate.
Composite laminate utilizing high strength uni-directional E glass and Baltek AL600 select-grade balsa coring
