|CHERANA Designed by Allan Payne and built in 1958/59 by Trevor Gowland in Sydney. CHERANA has the Gorgeous classic lines of an ocean racing thoroughbred and can truly be described as part of Australia's ocean racing heritage.
CHERANA placed 1st overall in the 1959 Sydney to Hobart, continuing on to win races on all Handicap systems, RORC, IOR and IMS. Between 1970 and 1996 CHERANA accumulated a total of 24 divisional offshore point score winds at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia.
CHERANA placed 1st overall in the Brisbane to Gizo Solomons Race in 2001.
Described by her designer, Alan Payne, as arguably my most successful yacht ! CHERANA is a classic Tasman Seabird. She has been meticulously looked after and has been updated by the current and previous owners to a high standard.
She has a full suite of Hydra net sails, The Volvo D1-30F has been recently fitted with less than 50 hours. CHERANA is ready to go racing or cruising she is a Beautiful example of a classic yacht with a fantastic history.
