Amel Super Maramu - New Engine/Gen, Many Sails
Start Auto SlideShow Full Screen PopUp
Simply the best buy in the world for one of these legendary cruisers. This particular Super Maramu has spent more than half her life hauled out of the water and under covers as her original owner only sailed her a few months of each year. Compare her to boats that have spent their entire lives in service and in the water and anyone who understands fiberglass will see the attraction of a dry hull that has never even seen a hint of osmosis!
Add to this her young, low hours engine and generator, her exceptional sail inventory, brand new standing and running rigging and her overall very good cosmetic condition, and then consider her recent improvements and excellent maintenance and you will agree that this is by far the best value for a Super Marmamu anywhere on the planet.
An exceptional blue-water cruiser, the Amel Super Maramu is world-renowned among discerning yachtsmen. Luxuriously appointed, solidly built with top-quality materials and many extra safety features (like water-tight compartmentalization), the Super Maramu is a sailor's dream. Down below, she is extremely comfortable yet eminently practical in design with two staterooms and heads, two extra single berths in the side cabin and main cabins, sumptuously upholstered settees, beautiful African mahogany throughout, and storage that is more than ample. On deck, sailing is a joy with everything operated from the helm: Electric furling sails, Electric winches, anchor windlass and retractable bow thruster all within easy reach. The helm has a comfortable chair and is protected by a solid dodger with hard windscreen that opens when ventilation is desired. Storage lockers are plentiful and there is a huge cockpit locker and enormous lazarette aft, plus two sizable deck lockers forward.

This Super Maramu was singlehanded across the Atlantic in 1992 has been sailed seasonally in the Caribbean ever since. She has been hauled out for each summer since 1996 and has been covered while on shore to keep her gelcoat nice. She was re-powered with a much more ecologically efficient Volvo turbo diesel in 2004 (which currently has only 415 hours) and had a new generator installed in 2005 (617 hrs), She had new sails added in 2008 and 2012 with little usage and many of her electronics have been updated with state of the art pieces as well. Cosmetically, she appears to have been maintained exceptionally well and shows better than many of her much younger sisterships.
In 2015 she had a full epoxy barrier coating done to her bottom which was stripped and checked for moisture and found to be completely dry. As with most Amels, her standard features and equipment list is far too long to enumerate here and so please look in the section under 'details' for a complete list of her special features and gear. This vessel should be very much on the short list for any cruising couple looking for a serious blue water sailing vessel. She is top-quality in every feature. Her owners are keen to sell and so has have priced her very attractively to ensure a timely sale.

In the forecabin there are two settees with a centerline folding table with an extension from the port settee to form a Pullman-style double berth and a single berth on the starboard settee, both with removable lee boards - much more room than the standard v-berth setup. There are multiple storage cabinets above the settees and on the forward bulkhead, and the fold-up table on the aft bulkhead. A two section privacy door closes off the forecabin aft of the berths. Next aft on the starboard side is a very large hanging locker/sail storage locker while opposite and to port is a large head and shower compartment with sink, marine head, cave storage behind the head, rails beside the head for drying wet items and teak grating on the sole. Another privacy door closes off the whole forward section and is in fact a watertight bulkhead 'submarine style' door which allows the entire forward section to be sealed off from the rest of the boat in the advent of a hull breach.

Forward on the portside of the saloon is a beautiful horseshoe-shaped settee that wraps around an African mahogany dining table. It is upholstered like a fine piece of furniture in a lovely cream velour with an amber leaf motif, shaped and stitched in ribs along the backs and seats. Cabinets and drawers are above and outboard of the dining area, and a freezer (or fridge) for the galley is found below the settee on the aft, inboard side and an enormous storage area below the forward section of settee. The 'love seat' style settee opposite the dining area on the starboard side is equally as comfortable and inviting, and has two deep drawers below. The table can be fitted with an extension to this settee for comfortable dining for eight. Above and behind it is a padded backrest which acts as a lee board for the slide-out pilot berth behind it, and then there are storage cabinets above and outboard of this. In the center is a 27" Samsung LED flat-screen TV on an articulating mount with a recess for the LG DVD player and movie storage.
Aft of the dining area on the port side is the u-shaped galley which starts forward with a tile-inlaid serving counter/work surface that runs from the centerline to the hull and has large storage cabinets and a washing machine below it. The propane stove with oven is in the center and outboard with the microwave oven built in above it, and then more tile-inlaid counter surface cover the front-opening refrigeration unit which is followed inboard by double fiberglass sinks and drainage board and a dishwasher below. There are more storage cabinets beside the microwave oven. There are two large shelved top-access can and produce storage bins, and an exhaust fan above the stove.

Opposite the galley and on the starboard side is the outboard-facing navigation station. It features a large chart table with 2-drawers and 2 front opening storage lockers below and plenty of room above and forward for built-in instrumentation as well as a padded fixed stool. There is a large wet locker just aft of it followed by the walkthrough to the aft cabin. The walkthrough passageway contains a single berth with a new oversize pilot berth cushion which is the best sea berth on the boat. There are cabinets and drawers overhead and below the berth on the outboard side. There is also a removable lee board and a hanging locker at the aft end.

Most aft is the spacious and comfortable master cabin. It features a large double berth in the Pullman style on the port side with storage beneath, a large hanging locker forward on the starboard side, a comfortable single sea berth that doubles as a settee like the lovely ones in the salon along the rest of the starboard side and aft to the centerline. There are many storage cabinets, and drawers above and drawers below the berths. Forward on the port side is the ensuite head and shower compartment with sink, marine head, cave storage behind the head including a built in safe for valuables, rails beside the head for drying wet items and teak grating on the sole.
The paneling and cabinetry throughout is beautifully crafted with lovely hand selected African mahogany and with a teak sole in the main living areas with tasteful carpet in the sleeping cabins; The upholstery is exquisite and everywhere is evidence of thoughtful design. The ambiance is one of luxurious comfort overlaid on a practical floorplan.

Going cruising? There are no less than 140 storage lockers, drawers and bins below decks and seven cockpit and deck lockers. You will not likely run out of storage space on a Super Maramu!
