Firebird - named after the Firebird Opera by Stravinsky, was built by the world-renowned Palmer Johnson Shipyard in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. In 1966 this 84ft ketch Firebird was built and became the largest aluminum sailing yacht in the world at the time.
After World War II the company built their first custom yachts and in 1961 Pat Haggarty, founder of Texas Instruments, bought Palmer Johnson The ship yard then began to use aluminum in yacht building. Then in 1966, the company built the 84 ft ketch, Firebird, the largest aluminum sailing yacht in the world and then went on to Fortuna in 1979, a 100 ft aluminum boat that was the fastest yacht in the world for over a decade.
Rich in history and ground breaking in size this Palmer Johnson 84ft Ketch has benefited from one on the most beautiful Teak fit outs on a yacht of this size.
