|Exceptionally well built, composite, fast, timber, short handed sloop.
For long distance blue water cruising or club twilight racing.
Waywood" was designed by Jon Sayer as a very fast and safe passage maker that can be comfortably sailed short handed.
She was built in the Huon Valley to the very highest Tasmanian wooden boat building standards.
"Waywood" is constructed with triple diagonal planked Celery Top Pine over hardwood stringers and AS2271 marine plywood frames. The hull is sheathed with SP Systems epoxy and 105 gm/sqm Colan cloth.
The designer of "Waywood", Jon Sayer, is a successful single and short handed ocean racer and yacht designer. His knowledge and experience is evident in the design and performance of this yacht. Her hull shape, fin keel, lead bulb ballast and balanced spade rudder combine to make her fast and easily controlled. The steering is light and with balanced sails she tracks in a straight line with very minimal input from the wheel.
The centre cockpit design provides comfortable accommodation and shelter when sailing without detracting from performance. "Waywood" is ready to step aboard and go cruising.
"Waywood" had the mast removed in June 2012 and had all rigging (both standing and running rigging) replaced. At that time, she had radar, lightning protection, a Wi-Fi aerial and an emergency strobe light installed on the mast.
