|Enigma V must be the perfect cruising boat. Stable. Fore and aft hydraulic center boards. Beautiful lines. Easy to sail. Designed to sit upright when drying out on the beach or mud. Draft of 1 - 2.5m. Well protected sail-drive and rudder.
The Via 42 is a pioneering French aluminium cruising sloop of the type that are sought the world over. With tweaking of the sails and adjustment of the underwater profile we sailed many days with hardly a rudder adjustment. There is a full sail inventory and an efficient 42 horse-power Volvo sail-drive inboard for auxiliary power. There is accommodation for 4 in 2 cabins plus room for 4 more in the living area. Galley and navigation adjoin the open living area. Toilet, separate shower and ample storage throughout the interior. Large lockers fore and aft for storage of anchors, sails, spares and toys. Tiller steering can be secured out of the way at anchor, opening the cockpit and easing access to the sugar scoop stern.
Enigma V is a perfect live-aboard, coastal cruiser or ocean voyager, but is really at home cruising. Previously known as Graine d'Etoile she has sailed the Baltic, the Atlantic, the Caribbean, across the Pacific and as Enigma V cruised to Micronesia and back. Anecdotally, always cruised by families with young children, it is easy to see and feel why. Our family adventure is over, Enigma V awaits another. Lying Coffs Harbour. Has NSW and Australian registrations.
Needs slipping and a little maintenance, and has been priced accordingly. With a little effort Enigma V will soon be ready to sail the world.
