Launched from Sydney in July 2009, the Seawind 1160 was previously voted Cruising World's Best Cruising Catamaran and is still the world's largest catamaran under 40'. More recenlty her big sister the Seawind 1260 (identical layout - three feet longer), was voted Cruising Worlds' Best Cruising Catamaran under 50' (see links below). She is one of the last Seawind's made in Australia by Australian craftsman as the production of Seawind was moved to Vietnam in 2011.

After kitting her out with every available option the original owners took her on a voyage up through Indonesia and after several years of ownership setup the current syndicate - so she has never been chartered. As an entertainment platform she is an incredible proposition with a fully equipped galley, large front opening fridge, two freezers and a third fridge/freezer for outdoor entertaining. She runs both 12v and 240v electrical systems and comes complete with power outlets like home TV, Fusion Stereo system, CD and AUX/iPod connections & even Nespresso pod Coffee maker. She is built to run off grid for extended periods and comes complete lithium ion batteries, solar panels, wind generator, watermaker, petrol genset and washing machine.

She carries 360L of diesel, 700L water and is powered by twin Yanmar 30hp with folding propellers. Fitted with an asymmetrical spinnaker in a snuffer/sock, self tacking jib on furler, plus Genoa and a storm jib. This is the very popular owners version with the master cabin, navigation station and full size bathroom in the port hull, with galley, 2 extra cabins and smaller bathroom in the starboard hull. 2 heads, 3 hot showers (1 hot back deck shower) and sleeps 6 guests very comfortably or 8 including the fold down table in the saloon.

You'd think being such a big, comfortable, floating home she might offer sluggish performance... You'd be wrong.
Easily capable of sustained speeds in the 10-11knot range she is most comfortable cruising at 7-8kts.
My wife and I recently averaged 10kts for the first half of our 230nm trip home from the Abrohlos, in just over 24hours... Single handed.
She is no slouch!

A popular model in excellent condition, regularly serviced, kitted out with every option under the sun with a buy in at a fraction of the cost.
Fitted with all the features needed for extended offshore cruising, WA's coastline is now within your reach. And if a weekend trip to Rottnest entertaining with friends is all the adventure you fancy, being berthed in Port Coogee Marina makes it a broad reach in both directions. A more comfortable & stable platform you could not find!

So how does the syndicate work? Extremely well actually!
It's managed in house by one owner with the assistance of two apps: Splitwise (for payments), and Cozi (for bookings).
ALL operating expenses (right down to diesel and petrol for the outboard!), are posted on Splitwise and divided five ways.
At the end of each month outstanding debts are calculated by Splitwise and settled between owners via bank transfer.
When owners want to make a booking they simply login to Cozi and block off their desired dates. Peak holiday seasons are shared & rotated through the syndicate. The only limitation on trip duration is from December - Februrary, limited to 10days. If a partner makes an extended journey (such as Geographe Bay or The Abrohlos), then that partner agrees to refill diesel tanks to the levels showing before that use.

A fabulous personal pleasure opportunity at a price that is unbeatable.
