Great Southern Marine Yacht Brokers are proud to present 'Marabou' to the market. 'Marabou' is a classic long range motor yacht designed by the highly regarded US naval architect, Edwin Monk, and built by Peter Bracken in Sydney. She has an amazing cruising history including zig zagging the Pacific - if boats could talk this would be one amazing discussion.

She is solidly constructed from spotted gum frames and planking to the waterline, with splined Oregon planking above. Her underwater profiles are entirely copper sheathed. Her decks are teak laid. Her capping and hand rails are varnished with the bright work having a recent refresh. Her internal finish is semi-glass teak throughout. Originally launched in 1973 - keep in mind back then she was one of the biggest and most prestigious motor yachts in Australia - she has enjoyed numerous refits with the current owner last year engaging prominent Brisbane based outfits Norman R Wright & Sons Shipwrights and Baddiley Marine Engineering to undertake further significant work including a back to bare timber where required hull inspection followed by a repaint in premium Awlgrip paint - for a spend of $250,000 (receipts available) on this occasion alone..... Her underwater and hull condition will therefore pass any test.

'Marabou' is powered by twin 300hp Detroit diesels and complimented by twin Onan Generators, and carries an impressive 11,200 litres (approx) of diesel. She is equipped with bow and stern thrusters for docking. Naiad stabilizers provide comfort when underway, and flopper stoppers improve 'at rest' stability.

The lower deck accommodation comprises a full beam mid-master stateroom forward of the engine room with a centreline island king size bed and separate toilet and shower cubicles. The master has its own private entry of the saloon, while at the same time has a neat interconnecting door forward into the general accommodation area - handy for keeping an eye on young children or perhaps unruly shipmates! In addition to the master she has three more twin cabin staterooms that all utilize a spacious main bathroom - one cabin offering side by side single bunks, one and over and under single bunks arrangement, and finally a v-berth forward. Access to the guest cabins is via a staircase to port bedside the helm. A separate ship's laundry room opposite the guest bathroom contains a separate Miele Clothes Washer, Meile Clothes Dryer, laundry tub and generous storage capability. The lower accommodation area works well and accommodates a considerable number of guests in comfort.

Back up to the raised pilothouse you will observe a centreline helm providing excellent vision further assisted by upgraded Furuno electronics. Dual helm doors permit the skipper to promptly dart out onto either side deck, and thereafter provide excellent natural ventilation (alternatively she is airconditioned). A forward facing L-shaped settee immediately aft of the helm is a comfortable spot in which to keep the watch captain company, or enjoy a meal from the spacious galley. The U-shaped galley is located directly behind the L-shaped settee/dinette in the aft starboard corner of the pilothouse and features good refrigeration and quality European Miele and (gas & electric) Gaggenua appliances. On the portside of the raised pilothouse area you will find a staircase up to the expansive flybridge area.

Moving aft, down a few steps, you enter the saloon area. The saloon is equipped with comfortable leather lounge seating and a large flat screen TV is installed on the forward bulkhead for entertainment purposes. The Bose stereo takes care of the tunes.

The teak laid cockpit features upholstered bench seating across the transom and is partially protected from the elements by the fly bridge overhang.
A ladder from the cockpit, in addition to the staircase in the pilothouse, permit access to the expansive flybridge area. The flybridge helm station is on the centreline forward and is complete with plenty of guest seating. Further aft on the flybridge you will find a substantial tender and crane.

If you are in the market for a seriously capable passagemaker, whilst accommodating family and guests in comfort, then 'Marabou' represents a fantastic opportunity at an attractive price.

'Marabou' is lying at our dock for inspection by appointment. She will be on display at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show May 24th to 27th, if not sold prior.
