Tour/Video

With sleek curves, tumbledown transom and flared bow, it looks absolutely stunning on water. The semi displacement hull design is capable of a surprising turn of speed. It is the perfect package for younger couples or families and will even have appeal to those looking to step down to a more manageable boat. It really is the perfect size and can be easily handled with little or no boating experience.
This boat is the perfect entertainer while doubling as a more than comfortable weekender. You could easily head out on the water on a Friday, forget your work woes and have a completely comfortable weekend, never needing to hit land until you had to return on a Sunday. There is space aplenty, massive head room down below and all over the boat effortless comfort.
For those looking to enjoy the sun, there is an enormous sun pad on the bow that would easily accommodate three people. Access to the front of the boat is via a wide walkway either side of the cabin with a comfortable grab rail in timber and stainless mounted on the cabin roof. For additional safety, or those with children, the large and high bow rail provides additional protection. The deck, cockpit and rear platform are finished in teak delivering a timeless look with stainless steel barbecue at the transom.
Access into the cabin is via a sliding door that opens centrally and aligns half either side as you look at the cabin. It allows for wide access into this space. The L-shaped lounge is finished in durable Italvipla outdoor marine upholstery which is durable and UV resistant. It features a removable teak timber table. Drop down covers also create a fully enclosed space in inclement weather.
The floor to ceiling sliding glass door provides the captain full vision from the helm to the rear cockpit. On the port side there is a bench style seat facing the kitchenette located on the starboard side of the cabin. This bench seat can, on request, be made into another fold out bed. The kitchenette featured a sink, stove, fridge and microwave so knocking up a meal would be simple enough.
The helm seat and passengers oppose each other with a walkway down to the accommodation. Both are immensely comfortable and allow up to three people to sit here facing forward.
The cabin itself is bathed in light courtesy of the single pane glass window and side windows with an inset sliding section allowing airflow. The timber used throughout is light and not imposing. This space looks open and inviting. There is a hatch in the roof that opens to enhance airflow but if you prefer you can use the air conditioning to deliver climate control.
The twin cabin layout features a large double bed at the bow and a separate cabin with twin bunks on the port side. Opposite the bunk room is a well appointed bathroom with a square sink and separate toilet and shower. The shower has massive head height, a beautiful timber floor and stainless doors and a seat.
All throughout the Hudson Bay 36 the boat has been designed with modern uses in mind, but manages to maintain the heritage look.
From the seated position visibility all round is excellent and allows you to manage obstacles on a busy waterway. The large glass that surrounds the cabin has few blind spots and even with the rear sliding doors closed, it still offers almost unimpeded 360 degree views.
Cruising at around 7-8 knots, the Hudson Bay 36 is immensely stable and comfortable. Walk up to the bow sun pad at this speed easily and comfortably. This is the ideal speed for exploring the many waterways we have around Australia and will deliver an almighty cruising distance.
Pushing down the throttle, the Yanmar springs to life and powers the boat onto the plane while delivering a sweet song. Its capable of over 20 knots (37km/h) and does it in a safe, predictable manner.
Berthing is made easy by the inclusion of a bow and stern thruster (imagine if your car went sideways when palking) and makes this single engine boat very simple to park or pull up at wharves. Hudson Bay 36 packs quite a bit into the 36 foot length combining sports yacht amenities in what is a traditional day boat platform.
It also has a bridge clearance of only 2.7 meters and draught of 90cm so perfect for canal homes and tight waterways.
