RICK JAMES 20 METRE, LONG RANGE EXPEDITION MOTOR VESSEL.

Karma is tough practical, capable, attractive and has been created by an experienced reef fisherman / professional boat builder
90 ton [approx] makes this a true offshore, ocean crossing unit. Karma has made many trips to Queensland's outer reefs, and it has the anchor gear, and handling systems to anchor in offshore reef conditions.

Hydrualic bow thruster to assist with berthing

Rick James [ Naval Architect] is legendary when it comes to designing commercial trawlers and work vessels.

In 2015 Karma under went a complete re birthing, with the old wheelhouse and trawling gear removed. The hull was then opened up by removing the bow plates to gain access inside. Then the internals were sand blasted and coated. The insulated hold was removed / and below decks have been very nicely converted in to a large open living area.

A new stainless steel cylindrical self draining anchor locker has been created in the bow and the hydraulic anchor winch has been rebuilt.

The new house was fabricated in marine alloy with all new marine windows. [ no rust less weight] The boat is now full walk around and shade with a large back deck for fishing or entertaining.

How many experienced mariners buy a commercial hull with the intention of turning it into a private pleasure vessel.

Many trawler conversions start out with the best of intentions, but end up looking out of balance and amateurish. Karma started out with a great hull to begin with, then followed by an excellent set of house drawings, and then the work was carried out by some of Brisbane's best
aluminium fabricators / boat builders / marine engineers and marine electricians. The final result speaks for itself. And the price is a fraction of what it would cost to do your self.

Remarks
Karma is fully stabilised with roll chocks, and then custom fold out wings have been cleverly incorporated in to the roll chock design. These are locked in to place at deck level and provide a comfortable ride whilst under way, and also at rest.

This system is ideal for anchoring in outer reef conditons where you can be anchored in two metres of swell over the reef at the high tide.

The vessel is now berthed at Hervey bay and an appointment will need to be made to inspect.
