FAIRWAY 36.

Proudly Australian made! Designed, built and launched in Sth. East Queensland December 2006. A brilliant combination of economy, space, comfort, reliability and sea capability.

With the collective knowledge and skills of some very passionate local 'boaties', that only generations of experience on the water can bring, 'White Wash' was built and fitted out to exacting detail. Some elements are small in execution but incredibly valuable (e. G. Air flow under the fuel tanks) and other details are more apparent, such as arguably the best power marriage for the hull with the Yanmar 6LP 315 hp.
The Yanmar provides great economy, reliability, weight and space in the engine room which is so important for ease of access and serviceability. She proivides a huge cruise speed window of 5 to 15 knots (& yes we do mix it up depending on the weather, who we're travelling with and the need for fish in the freezer as we troll across the bay) and a pretty impressive top speed if you're ever that way inclined (19.7 knots SOG). Everything that drives her is regularly maintained, with the most recent service having oils, coolant, belts (timing & alternator), seals, pipes and filters changed. All heat exchangers including the transmission were also cleaned making sure water flow and temperatures remain ideal. The engine room is, as they say, "you could eat your dinner off it".

From a design perspective she is a perfect economical family or couple's cruiser. She has a double berth to the port, a V berth forward (which converts to a double, and we use most often) and the saloon settee can provide yet a further bed. We have even slept on the flybridge to do a bit of 'glamping' under the moon. A 'water views' galley, dual refrigeration, a spacious bathroom with a separate shower, helm stations on the flybridge and in the cabin, and for those less than ideal days berthing is a breeze with bow and stern thrusters fitted. 12V and 240V power is never a problem with solar and a 3.5 kw generator. The latter is great for making that all important morning coffee. Note one of the 'brains trust' for the build is an electrical engineer so wiring throughout is 1st class. E. G. Battery power is 12 volt via 6 volt batteries wired in series so by design you experience less voltage drop in the system under any load. Smart thinking!

She has a great electronics sytem with a recent upgrade to a Raymarine 12 " Axiom Plotter Sounder upstairs and down. This dovetails into the TMQ autopilot so you can cruise stressfree. A new Fusion MS-RA770 system was also recently fitted, with controls upstairs, down and remotely.

The tender is often overlooked with regards importance when buying a cruiser but a well designed and powered RIB is invaluable, just ask any boatie and their family. White Wash has an Australian made 3.1 mtr Swift (with tube covers) and a 15 hp Yamaha. She is nestled safely on an upstairs stainless cradle so there is no blocking your view forward or aft. Nothing worse than having a cuppa or a quiet drink out the back and just staring at your dingy swinging off the davits, rather the sun setting over the water. Talking of aft, the special order large duckboard with stainless rails is priceless, perfect for a spot of fishing and so easy & safe to transition to and from the tender.

She was recently slipped with fresh antifoul and prop-speed, and while in the cradle a surveyor walked past and said to us and others that were there, that she had the best hull of any Fairway he had ever seen, and he had seen a lot (allegedly). She is ready for her next chapter and test runs are super welcome to genuine interested buyers. We always love taking her out, we don't need much of a excuse to go East through the leads. Boats are like zips, they're at their best when used regularly and we're about to undertake a major building project so we simply won't have the time to use her as much as we would like.
