FRENCH Canal Boat for Sale in France.

BEAUREGARD is French designed and built and follows the lines of a traditional French barge (peniche); other designs will come and go but the penichette will never age. She was built in 1988 to commercial standards and worked as a charter vessel until purchased by the present (Queensland) owner in 2009. Since that time she has undergone an extensive refit with new engine, gearbox, fuel tank, water tanks, shaft and propellor. Additionally, a new hot water system, solar panels, Inverter, battery charger, battery banks and new state of the art power distribution system and refrigerator have all been added. All upper deck fittings were removed, including the rubbing strake, and the boat reglassed with new traditional colour scheme. BEAUREGARD has all the advantages of this brilliant design and latest fitted equipment.

Since 2009 she has been exclusively used by the current owners for 3 to 4 months annually, cruising the inland waterways fom the very south of France, north through Lyon and Paris with diversions through Nancy and Strasbourg and on to Belguim, Netherlands and parts of Germany. BEAUREGARD is easy to handle, safe and surprisingly economical. Many of our cruising friends who own 30 metre steel barges wish that they had bought a Penichette.

This is a live aboard boat that offers superb views from every cabin (unique to the penichette). It will sleep 5 in pemanent beds including 2 Queen (1 can be reduced to an extra single) plus a separate single bed. This boat comes fully equipped with all bedding, towels and soft furnishings. It has all the requirements of a small home. The current owners use her as such and for a an 'off boat' experience, the whole of Europe is an easy car or train trip away.

I can provide videos to whet your imagination and a picture book to show her refit. If you are a serious possible buyer, you can visit us this cruising season in France to inspect the boat and handle her. I am happy to provide some tuition and if the sale is completed I will disembark, leaving the new owner aboard from mid July for the rest of the European Summer if that suits.

Please remember, should you find another Penichette 1107 for sale in your searches, be sure to compare apples with apples! Not all ex hire boats are in good shape - BEAUREGARD is!

Finally, owning a canal boat in France is not expensive; insurance is about the same as in Australia, certainly no more expensive however the cost of a berth is much cheaper.
