Presentation

A truely magnificent timber craft.
Tanda is a 50ft motor cruiser, designed and built for Sydney owners... A credit to Tasmania.
Designed by Tasmanians and built by Tasmanian's from Tasmanian timbers. This cruiser was ready for launching on the Coverdale slip at Battery Point, Hobart in 1927. She is a credit to her designer, her builders, and the State. A fine vessel in every way - Tanda was the smartest Motor Boat yet launched on the Derwent River and was equal to the best on Sydney Harbour.
The TSMV 'Tanda' was designed by Alfred Blore and constructed by Percy Coverdale at his shipyard at Battery Point. She was built to order for a prominent Sydney Architect and member of the Royal Motor Yacht Club of New South Wales, based at Rose Bay.
Following several owners, the boat was requistioned during WW2 for service - rumoured to be as an Australian Air Force rescue boat. After her war service 'Tanda' was relocated to the Whitsunday Islands and operaterd as a tourist cruise vessel.
After many years in the tropics, the current owner found the vessel in Darwin. He made the decision to truck her to Victoria and enthusiastically embarked on a full refit to restore her to her former glory. This exciting project has now been virtually completed with only cosmetic items remaining.
This solid, well-founded, long range cruising vessel would be ideal for a person looking to cruise long distances, amateur off-shore fishing or simply potter up and down the coast in this comfortable seaworthy vessel.
'Tanda' is one of the better examples of the wooden boat building skills exhibited by Tasmanians of this era. Don't miss this opportunity to own a true classic of her time.... Enquire now!
