Luxury Custom built Crowther Catamaran. Launched July 2001 in Maclean, Clarence River, Australia to NSW survey standards with accommodation for 8 passengers in 4 double/ queen cabins plus extra berths in wheelhouse & saloon.
Reflecting top grade materials and workmanship and extensive attention to detail.
Built by owner, Eric Toyer, naval architect, 3rd generation shipbuilder (wood & steel), along with his son, Daniel Toyer, 4th generation shipbuilder (aluminium)
With my previous experience of operating commercial vessels offshore in countries with little access to spares and services, we designed SV AMARULA as a luxury stand alone catamaran specifically customized for extended cruising and chartering in remote locations around the world. She is being presented with galley items, bedding, towels etc all in good condition, so all you need to do is step onboard with your personal items and sail away!
My wife and I operated bespoke crewed yacht charters out of East Africa from 2002 - 2007, including some interesting marine research/coral taxonomy expeditions, in conjunction with our marine consultancy business.
In 2007 and 2008 we brought our 2 dogs onboard and cruised around East Africa & Madagascar, before continuing on our circumnavigation. We arrived in SE Asia in 2019 and having completed an extensive refit in the Philippines between June and October 2021 we are now ready to sell our boat and return home to Australia.
In the meantime we are continuing to cruise around in SE Asia and are presently in Indonesia.

Mainsail Halyard is a 2 part tackle and is raised by running the halyard aft to the Starboard inboard hydraulic winch to raise mechanically.
Mast / Rigging
The rigging was designed and built by Dave Lambourne Rigging in Brisbane Australia and installed in October 2001.
Mast is Alloy extrusion, deck mounted and stands 21.5m above the house top with 4 spreaders. There are 2 Arco 55 manual halyard winches mounted, one on either side of the mast.
The boom is alloy extrusion, 7.3 m long and has 3 reefing lines.
Standing rigging is SS and was replaced by Associated Rigging in Cape Town 2011
Rigging was inspected in October 2021 and was found to be in sound condition.
Deck Gear
Sheet Winches. 2 Arco 66 hydraulic winches located on either side of the vessel where the cars lead the sheets to relative to the track being used.
Both headsail and staysail have 2 tracks, inner and outer, to provide optimum sail performance.
Control switches for the winches are located in an upper protected position of the aft bulkhead of the saloon. Headsail sheets on the outer tracks are run through turning blocks. Furling lines are also run through the turning blocks.
All 8 Headsail Cars are by Harken.
The mainsail traveller is located aft of the wheelhouse, has a custom 2 track car and is controlled from inside the wheelhouse by 2 x Arco 45 manual winches.
The main sheet is controlled by Arco 66 Mydraulic winch. The 5 Arco 66 hydraulic winches are 2 speed.
SV Amarula can be beached for cleaning, maintenance and painting depending on location & tides. She has deep keels which allow her to point high. Her deep keels contain double bottom tanks with extra fuel capacity for passage making and offshore expedition charters. She has been lived aboard since new & undergoes regular maintenance and upgrades.
There are 2 kayaks stowed behind the wheelhouse.
