This 34 Ft Bay cruiser is a Clipper 34 Mk III which is the last variant and the most refined of the model. It has a fully moulded interior and cabin, with all the advantages of solid fibreglass construction, semi displacement trawler hull and a fully protected single shaft.
Nyamba present's very well and is easy to take pride of ownership in.
Many of these vessels have been bareboat charter boats and have had hard lives, but not this one.
There have been Two owners since new, Nyamba was used as a occasional private charter vessel skippered by the owner before us around Brisbane and gold coast waters. As such it was maintained to survey standards with many contemporary improvements. Log books and receipts are available, and the second owner is a marine surveyor, so she has been looked after by motivated and skilled owners.
Clipper 34's are keenly sought after as they offer two fully private cabins and two good size bathrooms, both with shower and toilet. Great for taking friends, kids younger or older out for a weekend or more away.
Nyamba is a good size that offer the amenity and accommodation with out unnecessary size and costs of a larger vessel
The rear Master cabin provides for much quieter and smoother sleeping quarters than on other boats of this size the twin beds are king single size with domestic graduated foam mattresses
The desirable teak gunwales and safety top rail remain as does extensive use of teak in the cabins, saloon and galley. The great advantage of this boat is that the fully lined interior is a simple wipe to clean but there is enough use of maintenance free teak to give the feel of a tradition timber interior.
The air conditioner in the aft main cabin window can be used with a portable genset or whilst at the marina, another advantage that we came to appreciate. Nyamba could even be a liveaboard proposition.
Another benefit of the aft cabin we have discovered is that the access to the fly bridge is done in two easy and safe stages instead of a single full height and steep ladder.
The clipper 34 is a very practical boat, heaps of storage, great ventilation and so easy to move around the boat.
It has the amenity of a much larger boat it feels relaxed and spacious.
The features of Nyamba are :
Aft sleeping in custom mattresses away from the noise of the bow at anchorage, motions are better and make the best of a night's sleep. The aft door and ladder make this a great chill out during the day.
Easy and full walk around decks allow optimal mooring, window cleaning cabin side access and allow you to sit and enjoy the fore dec or aft deck depending on conditions. Once you have a boat with these there is no going back.
The solid coaming and timber top and wire rails provide the best security for children and pets.
Recent maintenance and up grades in the last 10 years:
Osmosis peel and epoxy barrier coating, eliminates that expense for the new owner.
Two pack gloss paint to the hull.
12 mm teak decks that have been oiled, never sanded and protected by covers.
New shaft and propeller and gearbox rebuild.
Interior main cabin up grade, marble galley counter and storage improvements
New stove with oven and gas installation with alarm system
Saniloo sewage treatment fitted to aft wc and holding tank to Fwd wc.
Sidepower Bow thruster, controls at both helms.
Cool box/ esky 230 litres adjacent to the galley.
New high-quality upholstery to all main cabin seating
Full covers to deck aft cabin and fly bridge.
Stereo blue tooth and new speakers
Mesh screens to side and fwd window and portable Velcro fly screening to all openings.
More recent work last two years:
Ultra efficient 12-volt compressor 110 litre fridge/freezer replaced the original eutectic system, gets at least 5 days running from the house batteries with out running the engine.
Roll stabiliser mitigation system for use at anchor.
Coarsemaster auto pilot ( fabulous invention )
Depth/fish finder sounder.
New start and house batteries 2023.
Engine instrumentation VDO gauges renewed.
External varnishing using long life acrylic system.
Davits and 3 m poly catamaran tender with 5 HP Yamaha 4stroke.
Swim ladder deep with raised hand holds, very easy to use.
Two $700 variable density foam mattresses in aft cabin
New helm seat and Timber table fitted to the fly bridge,
Slipped in March this year, full antifoul, 3 rolled coats and prop speed to propellor. This is the second application of antifoul since it was soda blasted so there are many years of easy renewal of antifouling for the new owner. We have found that it can be two years between slipping, reducing hassle and costs.
The ubiquitous Ford lehman 120 Hp is one of the most common and reliable engines of the era.
The 6 Litre naturally aspirated, lightly loaded engine makes easy work at 7 kts at 1600 RPM and allows easy conversation under way. This engine delivers "one litre per nautical mile" fuel economy compared to higher reving engines in planning hulls that use 2 or even 3 litres per nautical mile.
These engines are known to get to 10,000 hrs before needing an overhaul, this one has 6,200, and is very quick to start, has a clean exhaust and uses no oil between services.
The fully protected shaft and propellor combined with the robust engine configuration offer the most robust and maintenance free power boating you can get, and if needs be parts are available and reasonably priced.
Nyamba is Turn key to enjoy this summer..
