The Dolphin Explorer is a popular commercial cruise vessel, located on the historic Port River, just 25 minutes from Adelaide CBD in South Australia.
It has been family owned and operated for over 30 years, and is looking for a new owner to continue to bring joy to the masses as it cruises our waterways, looking for dolphins and other wildlife.
Experience the playfulness and curiosity of these wonderful creatures, as they leap through the water - from up on the deck of a renowned Adelaide icon.
The Dolphin Explorer offers relaxing, fully-catered tours, and provides a fun-filled experience for the whole family.
Boasting three spacious decks, each comprising of large seating areas, with the ability to cater to a multitude of functions, including weddings, corporate events or private chartering. All three decks are wheelchair accessible via lift, and there are two Accessible toilets on board, as well as baby changing facilities, allowing everyone to enjoy the magic of the river cruises.
Stepping off the pontoon and onto the middle deck, you'll find numerous undercover tables and chairs, toilets and the steps to access the upper and lower decks. Duck inside to grab a cold beer and a snack from the bar and enjoy it in the air-conditioned dining area, or back out on the deck with the wind in your hair. The dining rooms offer 180° views of the water, perfect for those chillier days.
A smaller food preparation area is also situated on the middle deck, with fryers, grills and various freezers.
In addition to this, the wheelhouse which doubles as an administrative office is also located here. The Public Address System is housed here, with speakers on each level, to provide crucial information for both staff and customers, and most importantly to point out the dolphins that everyone is here to see!
Toilets can be found on the lower deck as well, when heading down the steps, you'll find a similar set up to the middle deck- outdoor seating and a dining area. The main galley can also be found downstairs, containing a large cool room, industrial oven and stoves, commercial dishwasher, fryers, various other appliances and everything you need to offer guests an extensive dining menu.
Powered by twin Cummins 6BT 440hp diesel engines, which are found next to a large storeroom housing 700+ lifejackets, the Dolphin Explorer is currently in survey AMSA 1D and ready to go! Using only 18.8L p/h at the maximum speed of 12 knots, it generally cruises at 7 knots whereby using 16.8L p/h.
The sun deck is of course the most popular spot for those wanting to make the most of the scenery, with spectacular 360° views and plenty of aluminium tables/chairs modules to relax at with some drinks or a spot of lunch. Large aluminium adjustable shades can be found for those hot Summer afternoons, as well as heavy duty sun deck covers for when the weather is less favourable.
11 Kaly Floats and an aluminium punt style tender are also stored on the top deck.
This well-established business can continue to operate on the Port River, or can be reestablished as a tourism operation or passenger carrier on the River Murray or a similar setting interstate.
