40' cruising catamaran for sale. Trojan has sailed the East coast extensively including a trip to Lord Howe. As a NZ registered vessel she cruised Fiji, Tonga, Vanuatu and New Caledonia before returning to Oz. Repowered in 2009 with a brand new Volvo Penta, she has less than 800 hours on the engine as she is so easy to sail with her divided sail plan. Unique "longtail" propshaft with well sized propeller has her motoring efficiently and frugally at 6 knots (1.5L/hr average, up to a maximum of 3L/hr in a headwind with chop) yet we can simply winch the prop up when sailing thus there is no drag (handy if any concerns about rope too). Twin furling genoas and an MPS give both strong and light wind options for downwind sailing and a yankee cut staysail furled on the inner forestay and fully battened main with 3 reefs help her point when close hauled. Although never used, there is also a storm jib which can be hanked on to the "inner inner" baby stay and she has jacklines for foredeck safety. Current owner has consistently upgraded her over the past 11 years with SIMRAD instrumentation, AIS and radar, well balanced solar and battery capacity to allow completely self-sufficiency, as well as good water tankage. Coppercoat epoxy sheathing and sturdy minikeels allow her to be beached for a scrub without polluting our precious marine environment. She is spacious and light inside with comfortable accomodation in the two main cabins and as new upholstery and carpet throughout. Rerigged with beefed up chainplates, Allyachtspars mast and Selden boom in 2013, she's sailed less than 1000nm since. Survey in May 2021 reports her to be in excellent condition, ready to cruise off again with no more to spend. Great vessel for a family with separate accomodation areas for adults and children and masses of storage to accommodate extended liveaboard, Trojan is an absolute bargain at this price.
