Nautitech is owned by Bavaria and was carefully engineered to compete with other French catamaran manufacturers. Nautitech Catamarans are built in France (Vendee, Rochefort Sur Mer).

To set themselves apart, Bavaria decided to go for a more aggressive approach and with the cutting edge style of designers Mortain & Mavrikios, strived to bring into the world a catamaran that is at once pleasing to the eyes with its almost Gun Boat lines and provide unbeatable comfort and seaworthiness, while also focusing on sailing capabilities with a low weight ratio and dynamic lines. To increase stability and seaworthiness, the weight is distributed further aft than other designs, a safety concept further increased by providing additional reserve buoyancy in the bows.  

Attention to quality is visible in every detail, from the quality of stainless steel to the glass and resin used, general and deck hardware, choice of spars manufacturer etc. (It is good to remember that the launch of this Nautitech 47 happened before the GFC, which dramatically altered the production boat world and when meeting a price point was less of an issue).

To stand out from the boxier catamaran style used by other multihull manufacturers, then went for a more feline profile with fluid lines that inspire speed and provide adherence to the water without compromising on the hull freeboard, allowing for a smooth motion in the seaway and to minimise 'slapping' and 'hobby horsing'.

The Nautitech 47 is a real head turner with her low, racy profile, which can almost pass for a racing design albeit without having to worry about dagger-boards. It is easily handled, gentle on the helm, manoeuvrable, and as she is not intimidating to sail in spite of her size and profile, she is a winner for short-handed crew, families, and newcomers to the cruising world, while being a serious boat for experienced seamen alike.

Well-liked are the twin helms, which very much like the Outremer gives the helmsman a real sense of sailing, a great view of the sails, and when coming into port an unbeatable position to edge into a marina berth with full control and visibility no matter which side is the dock, something that many single-helm steering or flybridge designs often make more difficult.

In response to the nay-sayers who complain about the exposure of the helms, the Nautitech 47 was designed to please monohull sailors who like to do some  'real sailing', which is what Outremer wanted to focus on when wanted to convert hard-core monohull owners to compromise with the multihulls. These boats are fast without being scary, incredible stable with their low profile ratio, and and hard to beat when it comes to comfort and overall quality. Furthermore, as any cruiser will tell you, real time at the helm is scarce when on a passage and you may not not worry about exposure. The intelligent Hydrovane, which steers the boat without the need of electricity and in any sea conditions and the NKE Gyropilot autopilot, log and wind instruments (with 3 read outs) will take of the boat for weeks on end without having to touch the wheels, unless you feel like a 'spot of sailing' of course!

In spite of the ongoing changes that Nautitech catamarans have seen over the following years, the original models, such as this magnificent 2006 Nautitech 47 which is hull #16 and built when Nautitech had everything to prove as a newcomer and loaded their boat with extra attention to ensure a fast capture of the market.  as the result these models are highly sought after and will never lose their strong following. This style, with it's inimitable lines will not go old and the quality of the build will ensure many years of safe cruising.  

'Shine of Exeter' has the desirable 2 independent staterooms with ensuite versions, and two huge guest cabins, one with ensuite and one with a separate head / shower that is perfect when day guests are visiting and won't need to walk through someone's cabin to get to the toilet.

'Shine of Exter' has had an extensive makeover and has recently been re-varnished inside. She presents beautifully and was professionally looked after under the supervision of the manager of Denarau marina in Fiji, who is a friend of the owner and who skippered the boat many times during their trips around Fiji to provide assistance to remote island groups as part of the inspiring Sea Mercy Program, of which the owner has been a very active member for many years.

'Shine of Exeter' was purchased by her owner in the UK and sailed across two oceans with his family. She has never been chartered, other than when involved with the medial teams providing assistance to remote communities via the Sea Mercy programs and always with an experienced professional skipper on board. She is now regrettably offered for sale as the owner has settled in Australia with his family.

'Shine of Exeter' is presented in lovely condition and with all the usual suspects taken care of: she is a ready-to-go Blue Water cruising yacht that has been maintained to a very high standard.  

She is perfectly set up for autonomous running with her big solar panels easily keeping on top of both low consumption refrigerators and a 12V water-maker. The Davits are suitably upgraded to take her big and powerful centre-console dinghy, that gives access to places where others can only look from afar.

Thanks to her two sturdy sacrificial keels the boat can be beached easily and safely, and the keels not being a structural part of the boat (detachable), can be forgiving if you ever hit a reef or a submerged object.

The Hydrovane autopilot is a true passage-making delight with no power consumption and coping in all but the lightest of conditions.

Handling the boat under power couldn't be easier with throttles at both helm stations and her twin 3 blade Varifold props give plenty of bight when needed.

The mainsail is hoisted by electric winch from the stbd helm and the roller furling self tacking jib handled from within the cockpit make this boat an ideal choice for short-handed or solo sailors.

A recent application of Coppercoat antifouling means no expensive yearly haul outs for the next 7 years or more. The hull is free of growth and slippery on the water.
