Schionning Waterline 1480

If you want to sail rather than motor this is the boat for you! She was constructed by Jeff Schionning recomended professional boatbuilders as their home and is a one owner vessel. A lot of care was taken to build her light but strong and she has been well maintained since her launch in December 2005. Ease of maintenance was also a consideration during the build. Valves, skin fittings, hoses etc that need to be checked regularly are all easy to access (unlike some of the production yachts we have worked on where the furniture has been built in over the top and it has to be cut out to gain access). A layer of kevlar on the bottom of the hulls inside and out provides extra strength. Adding to the safety aspect all the soles (floors) are fibreglassed in to provide a watertight seal and with the areas under the soles divided into 50 watertight compartments, if the bottom is holed she can still be sailed home. Some people believe her engine installation will lead to cavitation. This is NOT the case. Her propellors are in the same place as a sail drive or shaft drive set up. All she misses out on is the extra 250kg diesels would add to her weight. Freedom Express is set up for short-handed sailing and with her long waterline length and positive buoyancy in her bows she takes big seas in her stride making her a very safe, comfortable home. She comes with an extensive range of spares and charts, is Australian registered and after carrying us safely to some amazing places she is ready to take you on her next adventure.
