Tour/Video

Heavily built, recently refitted and ready to go! "Tai Hoa" has an interesting story to tell and it includes an historic voyage to Ball's Pyramid with young crewman Dick Smith. It was for him "the adventure that set me on the course for a life of adventure. " This unique motorsailer has been bought back to excellent condition over the past seven years, with an extensive list of refurbishment and replacement by an experienced owner. She features a raised saloon with internal helm and a newly enclosed cockpit with a second wheel. Loads of original fittings (bronze stanchions, traditional lights etc) are complemented by the lastest electronics and electrics. Newly-caulked Queensland beech decks sweep forward and the spacious aft deck provides acres of space and access to a dinghy on davits.

"Tai Hoa" was very substantially built in Sydney and is in very sound condition. There is some internal fitout to be completed but all the hard work is done (and most of the money already spent). She's a remarkable vessel, suitable for a wooden boat conoisseur and ideal for long-term liveaboard cruising.

Accommodation
Central pilothouse with wheel to port and dinette with seting for four to stbd. Settee/single berth runs along the port side. Good visibility and comprehensively-equipped inside helm station. Steps fwd lead to the galley and lower saloon with a second table and two settees/single berths. Fwd again is a storage area.

Aft of the pilothouse, steps lead to the engine room, bathroom and the master aft cabin. Here there are currently two single berths but this space would lend itself to conversion to a double berth. A butterfly hatch overhead provides good light and ventilation.

The original helm station on deck has been completely enclosed to create a protected, practical helm station with excellent visibility. The aft deck area, including the spacious cabin top, has generous space for storing gear, realxing and getting easy access to the dinghy davits and mooring cleats. Laind Queensland beech decks (recently recaulked) and raised bulwarks make for a great working space moving forward and on the foredeck the massive anchor winch is a feature. A small hatch gives access to storage space fwd of a bulkhead.

The vessel is in good, tidy condition throughout, with some minor work remaining (aft cabin). Original fittings (lights, portholes, equipment, bronze stanchions etc) have been retained at the same time modern equipment has been installed.
