We are currently living aboard and keeping up with care and maintenance. This means that Sowelu is very much alive and ready to sail away. We are anchored and sailing in Sydney Harbour and the boat can remain here for some time free of charge until the new owners want to relocate.

Purpose built for live-aboard cruising, this Bruce Roberts designed and professionally built cruising yacht gives you safety at sea and comfort at anchor or marina.
The over-spec standing rigging offers an easy to sail setup especially for those new to sailing. With a furling headsail and a boom furling main sail, just pop up the sails and you're away. There is a spinnaker pole on deck and extra sails and running rig stored below when you want to experiment. The 800L diesel tanks (2) and 800L water tanks (2) will keep you going a long time between stops.

The Maxwell 2200 windlass is tough and dual controlled. There is a large luggage rack mounted on deck - great for organising bicycles, etc. Big windows surround the saloon and give an "openness" to below deck living. When at anchor, the dodger and bimini have a zip on connecting piece providing full overhead shade to the aft deck. The solar panels extend that shade over the davits and dive shelf. The clothes drying lines are strung across here and, yes, there is a washing machine with spin dryer below decks. The Weber BBQ mounted on the port aft rail is great for cooking fish and pizzas. The old, but tough dingy is powered by a new (20 hrs) MarineTech 9.8hp outboard - recently serviced. A portable dive ladder (new) makes climbing aboard easy and safe after a refreshing swim off the aft dive shelf. Then rinse off the salt using the hot & cold shower points before stepping on deck.

Off grid living power comes from the solar panels (320W), wind generator (400W) and 8 KVa diesel generator installed in the engine compartment. There are 3 x 100 Ah deep cycle batteries. At the marina, your 240V plug-in point powers a separate set of house lights, heats water, runs your toaster, kettle, microwave, etc.

Below, there is spacious accommodation with beautiful wood cabinetry throughout. The aft master cabin has a central double bed and ensuite, head and shower, hot & cold water. Aft of the V-berth is the forward head (with holding tank) and shower, hot & cold water.

The galley features a Broadwater 2 burner stove and oven, hot water and filtered cold water. Double sink and freezer. The chest fridge is two steps away on the stbd side. Two safety gas sensors and remote gas on/off switch recently installed and certified, controls the two large gas tanks stored in the helm seat on deck.

Can't decide about a steel boat? There are arguments for and against all hull materials but, with a steel hull you can be confident of bouncing off the odd rock or two, or having floating debris, logs and even other boats bounce off you without causing you major catastrophe.

Our maintenance schedule is established and has resulted in replacement gear installed, good for years of service. The manuals are all on file with additional system descriptions, diagrams and service notes.

We are available to provide a comprehensive handover to the new owners to supplement the manuals and system notes and get you comfortable in your new home.

This vessel was built for travel and living aboard. It has delightful presentation and very comfortable.
