SOLD

She needs some TLC now and is being sold 'as is'.
A great opportunity to get a highly regarded class of yacht, built in solid glass, with encapsulated lead keel, a lovely living space and at a very affordable price.
While there are several areas that could do with some work, there is nothing that stops the boat from being a functional cruising boat with a lovely living space.
After all.. We have been living and cruising on the boat since January, after several years of little use.

Located currently at Airlie Beach, but will be moving down the coast towards Brisbane soon.
We are selling as we are buying another boat. Sorry to let her go though as she is a lovely boat.

The Cal 39 is a classic, well renowned design by Bill Lapworth from the USA.
This boat has cruised extensively, from California, through Central America, the Carribean, across the Atlantic to Europe and the Med. Then back again to the Carribean, Venezuela and Colombia, through Panama and across the South Pacific to here in Queensland, ten years ago.

The Cal 39s were the racing boat of the day in 1970s USA, but now make great cruising boats. Easily driven and sails well on all points of sail. Will sail themselves to windward with just a locked helm.
Even though systems may not be up to date on this boat and it may be a little worn here and there, it is still a functional, operational cruising boat, currently cruising the Qld coast. At Airlie Beach at present.
You could start cruising right now, and update as you go along.
Mainly there is cosmetic work to do. Nothing to make the boat unsound. We would do it later but are looking to see if there is anyone looking for a ready to go boat right now.
If we sell later it will be at a higher price to reflect the work we will be putting into her.
The boat has modest accommodation, really suited to two to three people but could comfortably manage more for a short time.
V-berth forward, toilet and shower, wardrobes next, saloon, nav table/desk and galley, 1.5 width quarter berth. Teak trim throughout. Plenty of stowage space.
The hull is a solid layup of fibreglass cloth, no foam sandwich. The encapsulated keel is an integral part of the hull structure so no worries about a fin keel falling off!
LED lighting throughout. BBQ. Dodger and bimini in PVC for more waterproofing plus an insert piece to make a well covered cockpit when you want it.
All standing rigging, including turnbuckles replaced June 2020.
Antifouled Jan 2020.
New Dyneema lifelines June 2020.
Trojan T-105 batteries with 225 Ah capacity, 2016.
160w of solar supplies all our power needs, 2016. Hardly ever a need to charge via alternator.
Main and genoa fair condition.
Harken furler.
Stack pack boom cover with lazy jacks, 2020.
Asymmetric spinnaker near new condition, with snuffer.
Caribe 9'6" hypalon rigid bottom inflatable, with as new Mercury 6hp two stroke outboard.
Delta and Fortress anchor, 200' of 8mm chain, plus extra rode.
SSB and VHF radios, safety gear, jacklines and harnesses. 4 person Switlik liferaft, but hasn't been serviced since 2009 so unknown condition.
Ritchie pedestal compass, wheel steering and Raymarine ST-4000 wheel autopilot.
200 litre water and diesel tanks.
Perkins 4-108,55hp diesel engine. Unknown hours but are a solid, straightforward engine known to go 'forever'. Borg Warner velvet drive gearbox and fixed three-bladed prop. New fresh water pump Feb 2020, reconditioned raw water pump 2016, reconditioned injector pump and injectors 2016, reconditioned alternator June 2020.
A 2016 survey is available.
This boat is Australian Registered so you can cruise offshore without the $1224 price tag of new registration. ($444 to transfer)

Comfortable living space, a lovely liveaboard, and sails well.
