Come and see my beautiful 1972 Contessa 25 - 'Kumari' the Princess!
I have enjoyed Kumari over the last 13 years spending many days and nights on Sydney harbour with family and friends, particularly my son as Kumari became our home every school holidays for days at a time - delighting in our sailing, throwing an anchor at Watsons Bay, or Balmoral, Rose Bay, Athol Bay, Middle Harbour....

So many lovely times, so many easy rows to shore from anchor, to the harbour's cafe's, restaurants, and pubs that Kumari gives you hassle free access to.

She is a very safe boat with great sea keeping qualities, and I have sailed her from Rose Bay to Botany Bay many times, down to Port Hacking at Cronulla, and to Wollongong and back.

She is comfortable, clean and airy down below, no mould, not fussy, simple overnighting with 12v power, cabin and navigation lights, and comfortable high density foam berths with quality upholstery. She has an original timber table that mounts when needed, a big icebox, and practical clean counter tops.

The old grumbly metho stove has made way for an open counter with a simple gas canister camping stove - same with the old pump toilet - without a holding thank they are illegal in the harbour anyway so we just use the many harbourside amenities and showers. There is room for a canister toilet, for sure, but I liked keeping it simple. So with such a stylish yacht it's easy to enjoy true harbour side glamping!

She is equipped with mainsail and furling genoa in good condition, regularly maintained. She also has a very serviceable spinnaker and pole - we had a beautiful all day spinnaker run from the Harbour down the coast to Wollongong - and she got going! There is also an optional asymmetric spinnaker for ghosting along in light airs for the more experienced sailor. The genoa on a furler makes her very easy to handle single handed.

The rig is only 4 years old, she was antifouled last month, topsides polished, all lines and halyards in order - ready to sail at any time!

She now sports a brand new 6hp Tohatsu long shaft 4 stroke outboard on her lovely transom - well out of the water when up on its bracket, and easy to drop in and engage on its spring loaded mount.

I have a recent insurance survey available for serious enquiries.

She is an ideal boat for a first yacht owner, she sits on her mooring in the bay ready to go, no leaks from rain or the harbour, no mould, just an elegant solidly built part of our sailing heritage.
There are moorings available in the harbour with no waiting lists - so it would be an easy arrangement to find her a new home and start your yachting life on the most beautiful harbour in the world!

Kumari is the best value elegant yacht you will see, she is a magic boat to sail, she has that old world elegance of line, but in solid fibreglass and teak that is ultra low maintenance- very good value for the smile she will put on your face!

A bit more about the Contessa's DNA:

Her elegant lines, and lovely hull with its upswept transom is a delight to sail - a wonderful example of Aussie sailing heritage thanks to Peter Cole's design brilliance. Peter penned the design of a string of famous and very aesthetically pleasing yachts over the years - the Cole 43, East Coast 31, and the Traditional 30.

When the breezes are light she sits on the reduced waterline length of 20 feet. When it blows up she increases speed and sits on the longer waterline length as she predictably heels, dipping that gorgeous hull curve into the water. She is responsive on the helm with little weather helm, and a gust of wind just increases her heel a bit and she just keep tracking and pointing higher than expected.
