Domum was built in 1989 for a dutch sailor. He hired a naval architect for the design and then a shipyard to build it. From this design they built 3 hulls. Domum only had one owner previous to the current one. It was built to be self sufficient going to the Baltic sea Fjords from Holland.

It was built in steel with watertight bulkheads in the fore-peak and aft-peak for added security. The boat as a steel hull with a deck made of marine plywood, epoxy and then a teak, keeping the weigh down for a steel boat this size. Most important keep the weight low in the center of gravity. It as a 2.6 meter draft with a lead filled keel and a full skeg rudder. Domum is a 52 ft mono-hull with a cutter rigging making it a perfect blue water boat. Domum as a powerful engine and with a full batten mainsail from north sails (2019) and the yankee and the stay sail you have a perfect all weather boat for ocean crossings.

In 2016 the present owners acquired the boat from the previous and only owner for a world crossing with the family of 5, The Portuguese new owners Joao, Rute, Carmen 4, Afonso 8, Marta 13 started a project of preparing the boat to a world tour. The boat has been in a major refit since 2017 to 2019. Made a new toilet, New teak from the mast up to the bow. New steel plates in some parts where they were not convinced that the steel was in good shape, New chain plates reinforcements to support the rigging. Sand blasted all the hull and installed new systems.
