Alona is an exceptionally well built Australian registered, mid 80's, Duncanson cutter rigged ketch with at least seven berths. Purchased in 1998 by her current and only second owner, Alona had then just completed a circumnavigation, since then she's been sailed throughout the east coast of Australia and in more recent years predominately the waters of Moreton Bay.
Alona would suit those looking for a good classically styled, proven blue water cruiser, offering plenty of volume above and below decks. Her low price takes into consideration the two main upgrades she requires - the rigging is 12 years old and will likely need replacing, and she comes with teak laid cockpit and decks and whilst there is still plenty of thickness, she requires re-caulking in a number of areas, she is also overdue for antifouling.
Buyers will be please though with what's on offer: a Yanmar 40hp diesel with low hours, good refrigeration, loads of dry storage space, over 190cm headroom through the saloon which is very tidy and nicely maintained, a large comfortable cockpit, spacious decks, autohelm steering, along with the ease and simplicity of sailing a ketch. Located at her berth at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, Alona is available for inspection by contacting Australiawide Boat Sales on 07 3348 3177.
