Coming down the companionway, the raised second helm and nav station are to the port and the galley is to starboard. Going forward you enter the large saloon area featuring a saloon table to the starboard of centre-line surrounded by seating for at least six. Opposite is another seating option around a small removable table which can double as a passage bed. Full head room throughout. Ample storage both outbound and below of seating together with teak bookshelves and a handy large storage area within the table. Forward are two identical berths, both with single bunk beds and the option to make the bottom bunk into a double. Both cabins have hanging lockers and drawers, lee cloths on bunks and large hatches overhead for ventilation. Starboard side has teak racks for hanging fishing rods. Both cabins then enter forward into the front head with shower and hand basin, with plenty of storage. From here there is a door that enters into a large forepeak that contains the generator, spare sails and storage. Back aft, the nav station has a stainless steel wheel at the second helm along with all engine controls allowing operation of the vehicle whilst underway below decks. Helm chair is large and comfortable and gives access to all electronics. Five chart drawers under the nav table for storage and maps. Aft of the nav station is the second head with shower, hand basin and storage. Entering the large aft stateroom the big double berth (new memory foam custom made mattress 2018) is to starboard, with a desk with mirror over and drawers below, large hanging locker and large shelved locker. Outbound to port is a long bench with storage underneath in cupboards and drawers that could double as a sea-berth if necessary. With sliding glass door storage above the bench, it also doubles as a work bench. There are six opening port lights in this cabin. To the rear of this cabin is an opening hatch to access the rear lazarette. The yacht has been fitted out to the highest specifications, with many optional extras. Each FD-12 was individually designed to the specifications of the owner. The current owner is the third. These include the extensive use of teak in bookshelves and storage, additional structural support to the knees, internal helm and the generous use of teak in all cabins with white lining coach roof structure to assist with the overall feel of strength, comfort and style not seen in modern yachts. There are three Weens & Plath oil burning lamps for both warmth and to keep the boat dry in the tropics, avoiding the issues of mould and dampness.
