The Hans Christian 41T is a fine example of the a bluewater cruising sailboat ready to take you to distant shores. Designed by Scott Sprague and built for the CEO of Hans Christian yachts, Velella is built to the highest standards, and fitted out with top quality equipment. Velella presents in "sail away" condition with all import duty and taxes paid. Registered with the British Small Ships Registry, Velella is proven offshore cruising boat.

MECHANICAL
No expense has been spared in ensuring that Velella is simple and safe to operate shorthanded while offshore. Powered by a 74hp Yanmar 4cyl Diesel, the vessel slips along under motor at 7knots. A stainless steel Autostream feathering propeller is fitted, automatically adjusting its pitch when under sail and power. She is easy to service with the saloon seating and galley panels easily removed. A new Side Power bow thruster was fitted in 2017. Power generation is via a 9hp single cylinder Kubota diesel fitted with a 140Amp alternator. This engine also runs the ship's water maker. A wind generator supplements the generator's charging when under sail and at anchor. Fuel is stored in three tanks, two under the technical area and aft cabin and the third in the bilge. A simple manifold system allows fuel to be polished between tanks via the main engine and genset returns.

ELECTRICAL
Velella was fitted with a new bank of Lifeline AGM batteries totalling 1200AH in 2017, which have been well maintained and never run down since. She features 12v, 110v and 240v systems with 110v and 240v shore power inlets & chargers and a 110v inverter which supplies the many included 110v appliances onboard including the microwave, electric kettle, vacuum cleaner and cell phone booster. The hot water calorifier is 240v as well as being heated by the main engine's cooling loop.

The vessel is professionally bonded with tinned green cable tying all metal components together, including all below the water line. This means that their is no electrolysis onboard the vessel.

DECK GEAR
Built of solid fibreglass and ladened with top quality teak, the deck of Velella is not only very functional but also beautiful. High bulwarks with sturdy lifelines enclose the side decks and cockpit while the laid teak deck ensures traction under foot in any conditions. Recently varnished, the topsides brightwork adds character and elegance to the stunning lines of the vessel. The anchor is handled by a Maxwell horizontal anchor windless complete with capstan and remote control Auto Anchor remote. A Rocna anchor is fitted as a primary with a CQU as backup complete with separate chain and rode.

The gas locker and other deck boxes, bulwark caps, handrails, steering wheel and butterfly hatch are all made from teak.

A Leisurefurl boom furler is fitted to her aluminium mast for easy reefing and furling of the mainsail from the cockpit. The genoa and staysail furlers are by ProFurl and backstay is tensioned by a hydraulic ram.
Sail handling is done by all bronze Barient winches with the exception of a stainless steel Lewmar electric winch for mainsail handling.

Fitted to the canoe stern within the bumkin is a stainless steel Monitor Windvane self steering unit. It includes extra blades and a custom emergency ship's rudder built by Monitor in the US.

ACCOMMODATION
The highly sought after Molokai model features a two cabin, two head layout with the owners double cabin amidships with an en suite heads forward.
The midships owners cabin ensures the vessel's master has the best nights sleep near the centerline of the boat. The large double hanging locker to starboard and the bank of six deep draws under the berth to port make the HC41 a comfortable home for extended passages or living aboard. The owners cabin features two opening portlights and an opening hatch, a cabin fan, speaker system, reading lights and storage shelves. It is enclosed from the saloon by a teak door.

The owners en suite heads is forward of the cabin, featuring a separate shower cubical and Jabsco Quiet Flush electric head which can be flushed with either fresh or salt water, and diverted either to a holding tank or overboard, . Located in the port quarter, the double aft cabin features a large bed, hanging storage, fans and two opening portlights. The berth is positioned low in the boat to ensure comfort at sea. Access to the batteries, generator, quadrant water maker and secondary bilge pump can be located in the aft guest cabin.

To starboard is the day heads which caters to the aft cabin of an evening. It features a Lavac manual toilet, pressure water, plenty of storage and a vanity with mirror. The stainless steel emergency tiller is also stored in the day heads, adjacent to the companionway.
