Classic Herreshoff Nereia cruising yacht for sale. 'Peace and Plenty' is a 1985 round-bilge steel cruising yacht which has circumnavigated the world and is Australian registered. The last 10 years she has been sailed and lived aboard full time on the Australian coast from Adelaide up to Northern Queensland. This boat can handle any conditions and is particularly stiff and comfortable in big seas. She is a ready to go cruising vessel which would suit a couple. With a huge rig and good quality sails she is no slug! She has won dozens of awards in cruising yacht races over the years and her weight makes her very comfortable underway. The current owners have loved this boat for the last ten years and are sad to give her up. Only selling as there is now a 3 year old onboard who now requires her own cabin. Work is currently being done to make the boat sparkle an if the new owners wanted to take on the workload themselves. Currently at vibrant Cairns which is a couple of hours sail to the the reefs and many other islands.

Round Bilge steel
36ft (42ft with bowsprit and wind vane)
1.7m draft.

Cutter rigged. Sails in good condition. Tanned cruising sails. Both Genoa and jib are on pro furls. Main is fully battered with 2 reef points. Geneka in a sock. Good condition. Running Backstays. Well made sails which keep fantastic shape.

Volvo Penta 50hp engine with around 3000 hrs. Maintained to a good standard. Pushes along at 5 knots at 1.6l per hour @ 1600rmp. Does 6.0k+ above 2000rmp. New raw water pump and fuel lift pump recently. Vetus CV style joint in the prop shaft reduces noise (1 year old-$3000). Great Engine, great fuel usage and nicely sized for this boat.

OZ fridge compressor (2 year old ). Fridge is small but works very well. There is a second fridge space but with no compressor for it.

35m 10ml chain. Older CQR which despite being a CQR works amazingly. The current owners have been anchoring around Australia for 10 years and she has never dragged yet. Anchor has been modified with led in the head of the anchor giving good bite.

400amp hour battery bank and 400w solar.

Low power everything. LED lights etc. 2000w inverter with plugs all over the boat.

Seperate starter battery.

Monitor Wind Vane. Works an absolute treat. Small tiller pilot to wind vane set up used for when motoring rather than sailing.

600l fresh water. 300l fuel.

Tiller steering. Previously hydraulic steering but tiller is preferred by the current owners. These boats were designed to have tiller steering and it works great.

Hull was sandblasted and epoxy coated 6 years ago. The hull above and under the water is in good condition however the navy blue Hull is going to need a coat of paint when next slipped as there are quite a few scuff marks where the boat has rubbed against things. Decks currently being repainted.
She is a professionally built round bilge steel, not some backyard build. 6ml underwater and 3 mil decks etc.

The cockpit has a lot of usable space as the cockpit itself has been raised to the deck level making the whole area one big flat space. The stern has a beam to beam seat which is extremely comfortable.

Interior is classic. Not huge compared to modern boats but set up to be a proper sea boat in every way. The saloon has been converted to a day bed style which suited this cruising family better. The V berth is great and has a spring bed. See photos.

Wide side decks.

Work being done at the moment.

-Monitor wind vane needs one new bearing.

-New Water bladders brings installed.

-Bowsprit being rebuilt in spotted gum.

-Mast base has some rust and will be looked at.

-New starting solenoid for engine being done soon.

-Oiling all woodwork onboard.

-Changing tiller from a fixed long style to a folding style one.

-revert saloon back to having a table.
