About

Designed and built by Robert Hick ( designer and builder of the 98 Hobart Race winner and other Transocean Yachts )and launched in 2000, for ocean racing cruising, including Melbourne to Osaka race, coastal and ocean racing and cruising, competed in Cat 1 and Cat 2, fully crewed and with two 450L water ballast tanks great for short handed and cruising to carry extra water. A Lift keel Box in place and short spare rudder option..

Construction and Engineering.

Cedar strip plank core, with inner and outer composite skins, and also used for hull, deck and cabin top, with foam glass cockpit and internal furniture, it is is very strong, fair, but not heavy. The keel fits into a tapered case composite engineered frame, with potential lift option. Iron foil with lead bulb rudder bearings were custom built, a deep rudder foil and also a optional cruising telescoping rudder.

Fitted with a Nanni 29 engine, with shaft drive geared folding prop, with a full access lift off lid to engine box, which also houses a water pump, house batteries, one fuel tank and filters etc. It has made maintenance so easy, the engine is in a pampered state, (owner is a mechanic) with full access to all skin fittings, stern tube seal and exhaust system etc. The engine starts in half a second.

Interior.

Well finished fitted modern saloon, galley, and with the nav station on the bulkhead with a direct view of helmsman. Isotherm refrigeration in large bin, metho stove, deep SS sink, large pantry etc. An enclosed roomy head and shower/ sink wet locker etc. Two full height lockers divide the saloon from the aft quarters, The saloon has two berth's, the aft port and starboard cabins, each have a large bunk and pipe cot above with the forward cabin double berth, the boat sleep 8 with easy access to all.

Cockpit.

The cockpit has two long seat's, with great ergonomics so safe and easy, wheel steering with pilot and engine controls. 8 Lewmar two speed winches, and one electric halyard winch, and two clusters of jammers, and rope bags. The helmsman can reach the mainsheet, traveler, headsail and back stay winch without moving, great for easy sailing.

Electronics.

B&G Wind instruments, B&G autopilot, Simrad GPS and plotter with radar option not fitted. Full set of ICOM HF and a VHF fitted with two VHF hand held, AM/FM Radio full circuit breaker board and a 100 AMP Alternator with 4 of 100Ah battery. Full set of paper charts, and all manuals also.

Rig

A extra strong Sparmaster alloy mast with 4 sets of swept back spreaders, 3 normal for fractional setup and a extra cathedral top spreader for long distance running. Full discontinuous Dye for rigging, Halyards are a two to one main, one mast head and three hounds. All running rigging is in near new condition.

Sails.

New Quantum main, 4 Doyle headsails, jib top, wind seeker, mast head Asail, 3 spinnakers and storm sails. The #4 is half life, all the others are almost new. .

Safety.

Two RFD 4 man rafts, life jackets, harness, 2 Beacons, 5 pumps, 4 anchor's chain, sea brake, etc,

Spare parts

A huge inventory for engine, deck, etc. Windless and furler.

Performance.

Short Handed Championship winning boat, and also competed in Coffs, Hobart, many coastal races two handed. With a slim beam, it loves to surf and is so well behaved in big seas and very easy for small crew.
