Fast Facts: Length: 30ft (9.14m) overall including bowsprit and stern-sprit. Length on deck: 24ft (7.2m) Hull: Triple Composite epoxy / timber. Very strong but light. Ballast: Unique 300 litre water ballast plus steel centre board. Draft: 4ft / 1.2m (board down) 1ft / 30cm (board up). Rig: Timber with epoxy - Main mast, main gaff, mizzen mast, mizzen gaff. Can also be used without sail rig as a classic motor cruiser. Engine: Blaxland Chapman 5/7hp vintage. Prop shaft connects to variable pitch propeller (see note below) removing the need for gearbox. History
Never been in salt water. Nothing to spend.
This stunning design was created by one of Australia's most respected professional craftsman.
It took years to build using a blend of traditional boat-building skills combined with modern materials and technology. 90% recycled timber.
The designer/builder then undertook buoyancy, floatation, sail and engine tests. (In freshwater only - Lake Burley Griffin ACT - photo to prove). Then the boat was stored in a dry barn untouched for more than twenty years. Yes, a true barn find - but 'as new'.
In 2025 I saw the boat and thought it should fulfil its potential as a classic yacht. I purchased it as a retirement project and have come to realise what a really wonderful design and build this boat is. Some of the design details and thoughtful features are really remarkable. Whoever has the pleasure of launching this boat into the ocean will have a very special vessel.
Now more than 140 hours of additional work have been spent on various aspects of getting the boat ready for its launch into the Seven Seas. It is spotless clean and every item works as it should. (We have registered the boat. Trailer rego until 8/4/2027.)

Advantages & Special Features
1) Vintage style combined with modern, easy low-maintenance. The hull is composite - three layers as follows: Internal Layer: Heavy hand laid epoxy fiberglass over strong beams and stringers. Centre Layer: Mahogany and Oregon timbers. Outer Layer: Clear Epoxy Dynel multi-coatings that keep the stunning timber dry and protected from the elements. Even the interior of the cabin has been protected with epoxy and this makes the timber work really shine and glow. The hull is very strong, but light enough for you to expect great performance and easy towing.
2) No mooring needed. The trailer option means you can drive the boat anywhere you want and go boating. No mooring fees. No antifoul. No theft or vandalism issues. Go sailing anywhere you choose.
3) Trailer. The boat can be easily transported using the custom heavy-duty trailer. It is a dual axle, tandem trailer. It has a tilt function. It has a powerful electric / manual winch with remote control. All the lights work. The tyres are near new. There are two additional spare wheels and tyres. (The trailer has also been previously registered in the ACT). The trailer would cost at least $15,000 to have built new today. 12 months rego.
4) Sailing. The boat is a centreboard design that allows for very shallow draft cruising. The board can be lifted or lowered from the cockpit. In addition there are two separate water ballast tanks that can be filled or emptied with the turn of a valve. Or by using a separate electric pump. The water ballast gives you 300kg of ballast plus the steel centreboard.
5) Easy Rig. The sail rig on the boat is also classic. It is technically a "Cutter Rigged Gaff Topsail Ketch". However, as the main mast is stepped into a 'socket' type deck fitting it is a simple matter to only step the main mast and mainsail if sailing single-handed. The foresail, staysail, main topsail, main gaff, topsail, mizzen sprit, mizzen mast, mizzen sail and mizzen topsail can be left for when you have crew aboard!
6) Sails. All the sails are as new. That means no stains, or marks, or splits, or rips. They have been cleaned, folded, stored in proper bags and aired regularly. There are six sails.
7) Engine Options. This is one of the best features of the boat. The engine is a vintage Blaxland Chapman 5/7 HP. It runs very well and has recently been cleaned, and had various components replaced. I am told that these engines in this condition are advertised for up to $3500 on the internet. A lot of spare parts are included.
8) The Option is as follows: The Blaxland engine can be removed in a few minutes - it just has a couple of bolts. You could use the Blaxland for Vintage Boat events and substitute a modern diesel, petrol outboard or Electric drive for everyday use. But personally, I like the Blaxland. They have a reputation as a simple, strong, reliable and sturdy motor. And they make a very nice loud noise. You can buy the boat without the Engine / Prop etc for only $14,990.
9) Charging. The engine drives an alternator that charges the batteries.
10) Propeller. The propeller is a brilliant piece of engineering. It is a Variable Pitch Propeller. As used on aircraft. (Note: Not just a folding prop). A simple lever in the cockpit (similar to a F/N/R) gearbox control lever) allows you to change the pitch / angle of the prop blades to ensure maximum thrust and fuel efficiency at all RPM. It is a beautiful creation in bronze.
11) The Variable Pitch Propeller also has another advantage. It removes the need for a separate gearbox. This means that, if you want, you can use the Blaxland engine for Vintage Events. Then, just unbolt the Blaxland and drop in another motor for everyday use - a diesel, petrol or electric.
12) Special Features. The boat has some really nice features I only discovered as I worked on her. These include the lovely bronze and brass deck fittings. And, the carved wooden hatches and air vents. The hand carved tiller. The brass style portholes. The separate enclosed bathroom area. The folding dinette table with fiddle rails. The warm 12v lighting. The modern but simple fuse box. Three electric pumps for bilge, motor and ballast tanks.
13) Storage: There is more storage on this boat than on any other boat I have seen under 30ft. The under-berth storage forward and mid-cabin and in the quarter berths is amazing. There are also two smaller compartments in the cockpit. (One of these would be ideal if you wanted to run a small petrol or electric outboard or generator).
14) Painting: It is your choice if you decide to change the colour of the hull and cabin. This is down to personal preference. I like the clear finish as it shows the timber at its best. But there are many examples of other styles. If you do an online search of similar boats you can decide for yourself. (Try "Norfolk Broads Yachts" / "Vintage Yachts", etc. ).
