Remarks
Classic vintage boat, King Billy pine, beautiful lines, built in Tasmania 1953 of rare King Billy Pine timber - sailed from batemans bay to Straddie in 2018. King Billy pine timber will never again be available for boat building and is a rare and valuable timber.

she was originally named janet, buit by george lockwood in 1953 officially as 35 foot even though she measures 12.8 metres. She was given a huge refurbishment by a shipwright in the 80s and refastened and at the same time raised 4 planks, her original sheer plank is still visible if you look closely, at the same time she was raised the keel was replaced with a heavier one and bolted lead ingots fitted to that, this is what makes her so stiff and seaworthy especially upwind,
She was renamed avocet and over the next few decades was owned by 2 people.

At present Everything is very basic and mostly in working order. She needs attention top side and would suit someone living aboard, repairing and restoring. Will sail anywhere..

Absolutely negotiable on the price at personal inspection, after showing you exactly what's going on with this beautiful rare boat. Selling as is and What you see is what you get.

Being custodian of this boat is an honour and although we are sad to have to sell her because of our personal situation, at least our journey with her this far means we know exactly what she needs and her idiosyncrasies so we can honestly pass on to the next custodian. My concern is she finds someone ASAP who has the time and passion for a rare timber boat such as Avocet.
