Timber Huon Pine harvested prior to flooding of Lake Pedder

This Huon Pine 33ft cruising cutter was shipwright built of Huon Pine that was harvested prior to the flooding of Lake Pedder in Tasmania. The decks are laid Celery Top pine over marine ply. Her design is based on the famed 33ft Slocum inspired Roberts Spray design. She was launched in 1984 and cruised extensively throughout the Pacific and on to Japan under her original shipwright owner - builder, Chris Dunkley. Returning to Australian waters, she then spent six years cruising on the Gippsland Lakes before sailing to Port Phillip. She is an Australian Registered Ship.

Her many traditional features include the clipper bow, the bowsprit, cast bronze cabin ports and fittings. The mast and boom are Oregon. Her cutter rig is easily managed and includes features to make her even easier to sail short-handed such as the single centra sheet winch, the Autohelm electronic tiller pilot and the Muir electric anchor windlass with tree anchors and 30m of chain.

She is powered by a Yanmar 2QM 15HP diesel engine with a new 70amp alternator. Her electronics include Navman GPS, Icom HF radio, GME VHF radio, Log Speedo and Depth Sounder. She has wind generator (recently fully rebuilt), a 240-12v Inverter, two 12v batteries and she was recently professionally re-wired

This delightful yacht features a cleverly designed interior with three newly upholstered berths, a good-sized Saloon and Navigation table, an enclosed new marine electric toilet and a surprising amount of storage space such as in needed for extended cruising. Galley has sink with pressure water, stoven and fridge-freezer. There is good headroom throughout and she has a classic world timber yacht ambience about her. Well maintained and with freshly painted trim, she is usually kept under full deck covers.

It has extensively sailed and cruised Port Phillip Bay and was built in Williamstown.

Happiness is currently birth at Sandringham Yacht Club.
