Now exclusively for sale in Australia with YOTI this superbly constructed Sparkman & Stephens 45 Yawl would suit the most fastidious buyer.

THEODORA was built at Ian Franklin Boat Builders Ltd of Christchurch, NZ and launched in 2010. The triple layered Kauri timber employed in construction is a superb timber for building the hulls and decks of boats because of its resistance to rot. She retains the same classic lines but the construction method, systems and rigging - all to modern standards have provided for an immensely strong, rigid and torsion resistant yacht. The hull is constructed of combined edge glued strip planks and cold moulded Kauri Pine laminated over Kauri Pine frames all covered with an E-Glass skin. This has resulted in a stronger yacht with less long term maintenance. All deck beams are laminated Kauri Pine and are covered with an integrally glued marine grade plywood deck covered in teak. The deckhouse sides are laminated teak.

The interior is relatively spacious with unrestricted headroom for a classic design and finished in American Cherry with Australian Jarrah. Forward berth features single berths to port and starboard with innerspring mattresses. Immediately aft is a spacious head, equipped with an electric automatic macerating flushing toilet and a hot water shower. Opposite the head to starboard is a bureau with lockers and a spacious warm hanging locker for jackets and wet gear. The saloon layout is classic with central folding table under a butterfly skylight with transom seats and berths. The galley is aft to port with good storage and built-in ice box with refrigeration, gimbaled gas stove and oven.

Cockpit steering is by cable and quadrant with stainless wheel mounted on a classic Edson pedestal with binnacle and 5 inch Richie compass. There is a large locker on the port side for fender and line stowage. The engine access is through the big opening locker on the cockpit sole. There are also 2 lazarette lockers for the secondary anchor, warps and lines. The cockpit coamings are flanked by 3 polished stainless steel self tailing Andersen winches with additional winches on the deck house, and on both the main and mizzen masts. Theodora carries a full suite of sails including asymmetrical spinnaker, mizzen staysail, storm jib and trysail, made from the latest material, with all sails having been cut and assembled from narrow 18 inch panels, with classic corner leather reinforcement, stitching and finishing. The No. 1 jib is roller furling.

THEODORA's long keel and wineglass section give a comfortable motion in a seaway and instills confidence in her ability to handle ocean conditions. She reacts calmly to wash and chop and is surprisingly stiff - feeling solid and balanced. She is a light air performer and makes 9 knots in a 15 knot reaching wind. In short as the epitome of timeless class, beauty, strength and speed.
