Our Sparkman and Stephen's designed, Defiance 30 (1982) is up for sale. Discovery was our first boat to work out (without breaking the bank) if liveaboard sailing was the life we wanted and if we could do it together! We are excited to say the answer is yes and even though we'll be sad to see her go, we are ready to move onto our forever boat. Discovery is an amazing yacht to have as your first or if you are an experienced sailor and want a solid, well known and respected boat.

Most people will be able to stand up in her. The saloon headroom is approx 1.85m; galley/nav area approx 1.8m and head/wash area is approx 1.7m. She is set up for single handled sailing and has looked after us in so many ways, providing us with endless hours of joy and anchoring our love for being on the ocean. She is big enough for a few weeks to several months living; has been an ocean racer in a precious life where she competed in the Melbourne to Devonport race; or in todays climate she could even make a great little temporary accomodation at a marina.

Our current private rental berth is available to also be taken over with the sale. It is currently month to month $410 at Horizon Shores, Jacobs Well, with the option to continue. This is an awesome spot in the back water channels as it is right in the middle of Moreton Bay and the Gold Coast Seaway, giving easy access to both. Only a few hours sail to Tipplers and Peel island or a day sail to Tangaloooma (depending on tides). So much to explore! The marina has a few shower blocks, laundry, 24/7 fuel and cafe with a discount for your use with your fob. All you need to do is use the fuel card and fob to receive your discount. You can also haul out here and do your own work or use the businesses at hand. She was last antifouled in April 2022 and the rigging was last checked and maintained Nov 2018.

She is currently motored by a reliable 18hp 2 stroke outboard securely mounted on the back and has improved output when needed. We have organised it so it is minimal fuss as possible to use and access. The inboard engine is still on board, still works and can be reconnected if you desire or it can be removed providing some extra storage needed for a longer stay aboard.

As you can see in our extensive inventory below we have spent some time servicing and freshening her up, so most of the hard work has been done. A few things left to make her your own! There is more to see and be shared about the finer details of this beautiful boat and what is on board. Contact us to come look at her to see if she could be yours too.
