Talented Kiwi designer Steve Thompson has a well deserved reputation for designing fast, exciting, easy-to-sail yachts with high stability and excellent all round performance. This 32ft Thompson T980 is no exception, she is a dual purpose sports racer with exciting performance and a real weekend away interior to keep the family happy. This is a yacht that can take on and beat much bigger boats on the race track yet it is exceptionally easy to sail. The spacious cockpit has plenty of room for full on racing or casual day-sailing while she can sleep up to six in comfort. Carbon composite construction means she is light and stiff and her deep fin and bulb keel can be retracted for easy transportation to distant regattas. Deck gear is well laid out and features Harken winches and Spinlock fittings. She features a stiff three spreader carbon mast with a generous sail-plan, a retractable and canting carbon assy prod and a retractable carbon rudder, all light and strong and all enhancing her excellent all-round performance. Her reliable 19hp Volvo Penta diesel engine ensures an easy ride to and from the marina to the race course. Navman electronics include a GPS with plotter and a Rockbox mast mounted displays.
