Skua is back on the market, after being properly imported to Australia with taxes and GST payed.
She is a Van de Stadt design, built in 1977 in Lanester (North of France) by the boat yard « Constructions Navales des Forges » who built more than 80 Orca. She is built in a very high quality steel "Nuance" E24I, extremely resistant to corrosion, used for train rail tracks.
I bought Skua in January 2013 in Raiatea where she is well known by local people, and sailed with her all over French Polynesia (Marquises, Tuamotu, Tahiti, Moorea, Bora bora), then up to Marshall islands via Cook islands, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, Tuvalu and Kiribaties.
Before me Skua was owned by two well known sailors in French Polynesia, who sailed her from France to Tahiti via the Caribbean, Patagonia and many other places.
The engine is a 50 hp Perkings 4108, that was changed in 2010, and we have all the spare parts with joints for a second engine eccept the block. Right now the engine runs as a clock.
The entire boat was treated with a "methagrip" cold sink treatment from the start. We last hauled out in September 2016 in Fiji, for new bottom paint and total refit.
After three years of extensive sailing with Skua, and a growing family, Skua is now too small for us. We need to sell her in order to buy a new boat. Skua is ready to continue a long life of exploration, or anywhere the new owner would like to sail her.
We are now in Sydney.
