1965 'Shikari' build number #79 (and please note that there is another Huntsman 28 called 'Shikari'). Huntsman 28s were built by Fairey Marine in Hamble and were the offshore production classic diesel cruisers that set the standard by which other boats of the 1960s were measured - and remain a design icon. This Huntsman 28 benefits from a painstaking renovation. Shikari has the optional wooden keel to protect the propellers and rudders - there were few marinas in 1965 - providing additional benefits of stability during a passage and manoeuvrability at low speed due to increased 'grip' on the water. The hull still has the reinforced fittings for the optional beaching legs (not available). The Fairey Huntsman 28 SHIKARI benefits from having been extensively refitted in 2010 by the then owner of Oyster yachts, taken back to a bare shell she had an extensive list of works completed. Surveyed in the spring of 2023 she is presented for sale with a comprehensive inventory including highlights such as: 2x Volvo Penta D3-190,190hp engines with just 213 recorded running hours Stainless steel propeller shafts Lasdrop Gen2 shaft seals 2x 4 blade bronze propellers Garmin autopilot system Garmin GHC10 configurable display showing Depth/Speed and Log info Garmin GPSmap 5012 plotter Icom M400BB DSCVHF with Icom CommandMic. Pressurised hot and cold water system Wallas SafeFlame diesel fired hob Electric flush marine toilet, black water holding tank person liferaft 2023 Survey available by request The 2023 season was spent cruising the West Coast of Scotland, with a week long holiday out to St Kilda via Oban, Coral Beach and Sky. This is an absolutely ready to go example, it needs nothing having been serviced by Volvo Penta and has done approximately 45 hours since. April 2024 She is having all the Varnish/Brightwork refinished and new antifoul. It comes with an all weather cover and retains pretty much all of the history from when she was new.
