'Sophia' was newly constructed in 2007, using 1950's plans provided by Glen-L marine in the US. It is a period correct replica of an American 1950's pleasure boat. The most frequent comment at the boat ramp is, "Gee; you've done a great restoration, mate!"

It was built by the owner, a carpenter and specialised tradesmen, to an obsessive standard, regardless of cost.

'Sophia' has been garaged every night when not on the water.

The outboard motor has less than 100 hours on it and has recently undergone a full service, including a new battery. The motor is a Tohatsu 50hp two-stroke, which was chosen for it's period authentic look, and its light weight which gives the hull good balance. The battery is mounted on the stem, under the fore deck, for better weight distribution, and the fuel tanks (twin 60 litre stainless steel tanks) are mounted under the front seats, also contributing to the balance, hull stability and good plane.

The boat has been clocked at 67kph, with full fuel tanks, and two adults and two children onboard.

The seats are luxuriously upholstered in the period style. The boat seats six people in comfort. The forward seats have ample storage spaces built into the back. The rear seat is quickly and easily removable to give access to storage space and plastic storage bins. There is ample space for all essentials including anchor, fenders, life jackets, fire extinguisher, etc.

All timber (not just the hull) is epoxy encapsulated to ensure low maintenance. A folder of all receipts, plans and photo album of construction is available to the buyer.
