One would imagine that Kay Cottee had a lot of time to contemplate her perfect cruiser. Crossing the Equator, she would have considered the value of Air Conditioning. After a thorough soaking in the Southern Ocean, surely a washer/dryer would be on the list. A lonely circumnavigation could have inspired a cockpit, saloon and accommodation that could allow lots of friends. 3 cabins and 3 heads all with fresh or saltwater flushing (2 with standalone showers). A dining table for 8, plus a private breakfast nook for 2. A large cockpit with outside table. In the galley, a dishwasher (of course), Gas cooktop and oven, lots of fridge and freezer space, Corian benchtops. And in the Saloon, a hideaway television and hideaway sound system, lounge chairs and a full-size chart table. Above deck, a leisure furling main, self-tacking Staysail and Furling Genoa got the tick. Sailing should never be hard work again. Electric primaries, bow thruster and stern thruster both operable from a single wireless remote, or via helm control, electric anchor and keel lift system, all available from either helm.
A deep fin and torpedo bulb for stability off-shore, with a hydraulic lift so that Lord Howe Island lagoon could still be accessible. Twin rudders for control also create a tripod with the raised keel for support should she dry out on the tide. A bow thruster for ease of berthing (a stern thruster has been added since as well). Basically, every modern luxury in a solidly built cruising yacht with an attention to detail you won't ever find in a production yacht. You'll notice that every deck fitting and bit of furniture hardware is of top quality and premium brands. Being such good construction, "Carpe Diem" is still in superb condition and will give a new owner a legendary cruising boat that attracts much attention.
