SY Shanghaied - a classic Crowther Buccaneer 36 commissioned in 1978 and launched in Westernport Bay, Australia 1998.

Shanghaied is a strongly built foam sandwich trimaran well suited to blue water sailing. She has Australian registration, and all equipment and accommodation for extended offshore cruising. She has also performed well around the cans. We have owned the vessel since 2003, sailing around Tasmania, the Gulfs of South Australia and up the west coast to Darwin before cruising in SE Asia since 2013. We sailed her from Lombok to Darwin this January/February: she performed well.

Maintenance: In the last few months, prior to the Lombok-Darwin cruise, the heat exchanger was re-sleeved, new instruments integrated into the Raymarine system, hatches re-caulked, centre-board casing repaired and the hull anti-fouled.

The boat has 2 issues. Firstly the saildrive is a Volvo 110S with significant wear and exhibits vibration - in my opinion it needs replacing. Happy to discuss options. The 2nd issue is the dodger - it is well past its use by date.

While this boat needs some work, she is clean and the structure is good. She is available for inspection, currently on the hard in Darwin.

Remarks
Please note the mast head and spinaker photos were taken some time ago when she still sported the go-fast stripes.

She has good storage space. On deck there is a large anchor locker forward and 2 deck lockers and 4 ama lockers. Interior storage in cupboards, wing lockers, seat lockers, and bilge make this a very practical live-aboard yacht. This was the last of the Buccaneer series to be designed by Lock and the extra storage built over the wings is very useful.
