This vessel is the first to be presented this year with the Seafoil technology.
The vessels are currently in use as commercial ferries, naval coastal surveillance, mining research vessels, commercial fishing vessels and police patrol boats.
The catafoil hull shape is a unique hybrid design using symmetrical and asymmetrical sponson shapes giving the vessel incredible stability.
The use of the symmetrical and asymmetrical hull shapes delivers optimal directional stability in quartering, confused and heavy seas. Unique tunnel steps dampen vertical acceleration (tunnel slap) while the sponson configuration ensures banking to the inside during turns.
The Seafoil technology relies on 2 foils approximately 1' long and one continuous foil further up towards the bow. The Seafoil technology lifts the boat out of the water about 8 to 10 inches once the boat is doing 10 knots. The top speed is 40 knots once the boat gets up on the foils which saves about 50-60% of the fuel and makes a very easy, smooth ride.
This boat is powered by 2 x 150 Mercury Verado outboards. The boat weighs nearly 3 tonne when full of fuel and water so you would normally expect about 2 x 300 outboards but this boat does 40 knots with only 150s because of the Seafoil technology.
The boat has seating for 9. It has a really good nav station with 2 chart plotters VHF radio and electric start Mercury monitoring system.
The boat has a galley under the area where you prepare fish and the boat has fish boards port and starboard on the stern.
Because it is a catamaran with twin hulls, there is a lot of distance between the two outboards and the ladder goes down giving access in and out of the water.
