Basic Description
The vessel shall include:
o Vehicle bow door and be capable of picking up and dropping off passengers and vehicles from a beach.
o Steering station shall be located aft on an elevated console.
o Cargo Deck sized to suit conventional 4x4 vehicle (Landcruiser or similar)
Quality standard.
The vessel "ALT Barge "(456438) will be used as a benchmark with regards to standards of fitout and finishes
Compliance
Survey
The vessel shall be designed and constructed in 2C Survey for 2+10.
Construction survey will be done by Maritime Survey Victoria.
Stability
The vessel shall be provided with an independently audited stability book demonstrating compliance with the Requirements of the NSCV Section 6C: stability.

Structural Design Standard
The vessel will be designed to meet NSCV Section C3 and Lloyds SSC
Materials
All aluminium plate material in structural applications shall be 5083-H116/H321.
5005-H34 aluminium sheet may be used for internal non-structural applications.

Welding
Welding shall be in accordance with the designers weld schedule and work instructions.

Engineering
Propulsion Engines
The vessel shall be fitted with two(2), 350hp ultra long shaft Suzuki or Mercury, 4 stroke
outboard motors with electronic controls.
Propellers
The vessel shall be fitted with two (2) stainless steel propellers with size to be confirmed during sea trials.
Engine Controls
The vessel shall be fitted with electronic engine controls supplied by the engine manufacturer.
Fuel Systems
The vessel shall be fitted with two (2) 360 L below deck fuel tanks located in sealed coffer dams as per NSCV.
Two fuel filters shall be fitted, one per engine, located port and starboard.
Flexible fuel line shall conform to SAE J1527or equivalent.
All fuel connections shall be connected with double stainless steel hose clamps
Emergency shut-off valves located on the aft bulkheads shall be fitted.
Fresh Water
A 13 l/min pressure pump shall be fitted, supplying water to basin
A 38 mm filling fitting shall be located in the port bulwark. The water filler shall be
clearly labelled.
The vessel shall be fitted with one (1) 120 L roto-moulded fresh water tank.
Bilge System
The vessel shall be fitted with:
Seven (7) 5.5kL/hr ELV bilge pumps permanently mounted in vessel hulls
One(1) manual bilge pump minimum rated capacity 5.5kL/hr fitted in aft compartment.
STEERING
The vessel shall be fitted with 12 v electric / hydraulic steering with fluid link between engines.
BOW RAMP
The bow ramp shall be operated via a 12v electric winch.
Electrical
General
The electrical system shall be 12V two wire negative earth configuration compliant
with NSCV Code.
The primary charging system shall be the two engine driven alternators supplied by
the engine manufacturer.
A voltage sensitive relay (VSR) switch shall be fitted to automatically parallel to the
Batteries.
Switchboards
The main switchboard shall be located in the helm station
All circuits shall be switched by double poll magnetic circuit breakers. (note: double
pole isolation is required by the NSCV code)
Cables
All electrical cables to be tinned copper suitable for marine use
The electrical system shall be designed so that the maximum voltage drop in any
conductor is less than 5%.
Batteries
Two (2) starting battery banks, each consisting of a 12V 600CCA lead acid battery,
shall be fitted.
The House battery bank shall consist of 2 x 12V lead acid batteries.
All Batteries shall be securely located in dedicated vented waterproof boxes.
Lighting
The vessel shall be fitted with Hella LED navigation lights including;
-port and started navigation lights,
-all round white light.
The vessel shall be provided with two (2) flood light illuminating the fwd deck area and two (2) to illuminate the aft area.
The vessel shall be fitted with switchable LED interior lights with red lamp for night operation.
Navigation Systems
The vessel shall be fitted with navigation equipment as required by NSCV code part including;
-Magnetic compass,
-GPS chart plotter,
-Echo sounder and,
-Binoculars.
Vessel shall be fitted with a multifunction display unit (MFD) capable of displaying data from the following vessel systems;
-GPS
-Chart plotter
-Echo sounder,
-Engine Information
-Fuel tank level
External Communications
The vessel shall be fitted with a VHF radio telephone with DSC.
The vessel shall be fitted with a 406 MHz EPIRB. The EPIRB shall be registered with
AMSA.
The EPIRB will be stored in a protected location where is can "float free" in case of emergency. Location to be shown on the general arrangement drawing.
Deck, Mooring and Safety
Corrosion protection / zinc
The vessel shall be fitted with sufficient zinc anodes to provide 12 months cathodic
protection. The anodes shall have a minimum surface area of 0.07m2 and minimum
total mass of 4kg. (Note: the vessel will end up with four anodes. Area and mass TBC)
WINDOWS & DOORS
The vessel shall be fitted with toughened safety glass windows located as shown on the general arrangement drawing.
PAINTING
Vessel is quoted will bare aluminium "commercial" finish. A vinyl wrap covering the area from fender to gunwale is available at additional expense.
Fire fighting
The vessel shall comply with the NSCV code part 4C Fire Safety. The vessel is "Fire Risk
Category II"
The vessel shall be supplied with the following fire fighting equipment:
-one (1) fire bucket.
-one (1) 4.5 kg dry power fire extinguisher.
Life Saving
The vessel shall be fitted with life saving equipment as required by the NSCV code including;
-Life raft,
-Lifebuoy
-Coastal lifejackets,
-Distress signals,
-Battery-operated torches and,
-Scale G medical kit.
ANCHOR AND MOORING
The vessel shall be fitted with two(2) anchors in compliance with NSCV code
One (1) 12V anchor winch.
The vessel shall be fitted with an anchor cables consisting of;
-3 m x 8 mm short link chain and,
-150 m x 12 mm nylon rope.
-Two(2) 12m x 12 mm Mooring ropes.
