Providing exceptional functional volume and a stable working platform, "Abrolhos Charter" is an extremely sturdy and trustworthy commercial vessel. Currently in AMSA Class 3B Survey, Abrolhos Charter is enabled for immediate commercial operation onboard. With an exact launch year unknown, she was built in Geraldton, Western Australia, using Jarrah timber, providing a hard-wearing and durable construction, benefiting further from a recent deck reconstruction. The vessel was originally commissioned as a charter fishing vessel in the Abrolhos Islands off the Western Australian Coast, then worked as a trade supply vessel between Mainland Australia and the Abrolhos Islands. A change of hands in the late '80s saw the relocation of the commercial vessel to Tasmanian waters, where it has since served as a Crayfish boat and Abalone mothership to a small fleet.

At almost 19m, Abrolhos Charter provides an exceptional amount of below-deck storage, featuring three main compartments with access central on the foredeck. The forward compartment is currently used for shelved storage and access to the anchor locker, however, it can be easily converted into accommodation. The mid compartment has been refitted for additional accommodation, however, it was used as an expansive wet storage area. This compartment also provides quick and easy access to two large freezer compartments down both the port and starboard sides. The aftmost compartment provides a brilliant amount of tank storage, recently re-glassed and fitted with large compartment racks to separate live produce when needed. Situated on the front of the pilothouse bulkhead on and above the deck, is a live bait tank with three separate compartments with easy access.

A high freeboard and a raised bow provide great safety at sea while on deck, while with the addition of a large paravane system, the vessel retains great stability at sea. Built with a deep keel and protected propeller and shaft, those on board can be assured of its safe design. A full inventory of sails with two staysails and a mainsail provides additional stability and efficiency, with the ability to propel the vessel under sail power alone.

Moving aft of the foredeck, past the large commercial pot hauler where the port side walkway gives raised direct deck access to the pilothouse. Proceeding aft along the port side deck, high bulwarks give safety and lead to the aft deck, where a large snap freezer sits centrally in addition to giving spacious bench-top workspace outdoors and undercover. The starboard side houses a large outdoor pantry or storage area for crew on the starboard side. Access to the bathroom can be found on the port side of the aft deck, giving a spacious head and shower area. The main access to the galley, crew mess and pilothouse can be found from the main door on the aft deck, where on the starboard side you'll find a spacious area for crew around an "L"-shape settee adjacent to the galley, plus underfloor access to the aft lazarette that has been converted into accommodation for 3. Opposite the galley and settee to the port side is a large single berth for the captain. Moving forward from the common area is the wheelhouse. This area is complete with all the navigation equipment you'd expect to find on an offshore fishing vessel of this calibre with multiple sonars, chart systems, radars, VHF and HF radios, satellite phone... The list goes on.

Access to the engine room can be found through a hatch in the pilothouse floor. This area is expansive and houses a John Deere 12.5L Diesel main engine with 342hp, a NEW addition in 2013. Two generators can be found here, a Westerbeke 10kva and an ISUZU 12kva, NEW in 2013. On board, you'll find a Sea Recovery reverse osmosis system, plus direct and easy access to the fuel tankage (10,000L across 4 tanks). This area is simply laid out and easy to navigate.

"Abrolhos Charter" has had a rich and important history, while still presenting in good condition for its age and use, also offering a great platform to convert to a capable and large pleasure cruiser/explorer.
