Taormina is one of the best appointed and most generously optioned Caribbean 45s I've had the pleasure of bringing to market. Twin 565HP DDEC Detroits respond the instant you ease the electronic throttles forward, and she settles into a 22-knot cruise in seconds. There's plenty of torque on hand whenever you need it, whether that's getting out of trouble, chasing a fish or simply enjoying the ride.

Her Detroits have had substantial recent investment from a specialist Detroit Diesel technician, and the service records are available to genuine buyers.

Inside, she has had a range of tasteful cosmetic upgrades, from plush carpet and updated vinyl upholstery to roman blinds and new mattress covers. She presents beautifully.

The master cabin has a private ensuite with an electric toilet, vanity and separate shower stall. Forward, the guest cabin offers three tournament-style single berths, and the lower berth is wide enough to sleep two. The saloon lounges convert to sleep at least two more.

The mezzanine galley is a real highlight of the Caribbean layout. There's room for a chef and a helper, with excellent bench space, generous storage, a ceramic electric cooktop, a microwave and eutectic refrigeration. Natural light pours in, and the galley stays connected to the saloon for easy entertaining.

The saloon feels open, relaxed and made for easy living. As you'd expect on a Caribbean, double sliding doors open onto the rear deck, joining the two spaces into one large, inviting area for entertaining.

Up top, the flybridge has two bucket helm seats, a forward-facing bench seat and a fold-up table for the days you simply want to sit back and enjoy the view or the sunset. Combined electronic gear and throttle controls make her very easy to handle. A second helm station with matching controls and gauges sits in the saloon, which is ideal for long passages, for berthing, or when the skipper would rather stay among the guests.

A 3.6m Brig RIB sits on the foredeck and is easy to launch and retrieve with the 250kg Davco electric davit. With a 30HP Honda four-stroke on the back, the Brig is perfect for getting between bays, checking the cray pots or towing the kids on a board.

For deck space and relaxed open-plan living, the Caribbean 45 is outstanding value. Taormina will comfortably suit two families, an Abrolhos adventure or an easy overnighter on the Swan.
